국문 초록

“May Fourth Movement” is an important document written by Mao Zedong in April 1939 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. The text was first publicly published on May 1, 1939 in “Liberation”, the organ publication of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and after the founding of People’s Republic of China (PRC), it was revised by Mao Zedong himself and included in the People’s Publishing House’s March 1952 1st edition of the “Selected Works of Mao Zedong”, Volume II. By collating the key editions and summarizing the reasons for their revisions, it helps to better understand the course of development of Mao Zedong’s thought. Returning to the earliest public version of “The May Fourth Movement”, Mao Zedong’s applied the worldview and methodology of Marxism to answer a series of theoretical and practical questions about the Chinese revolution and the Chinese youth movement in a systematic and preliminary way, which was of great value in formulating the theory of the New Democratic Revolution, constructing the system of the CPC’s “May Fourth Discourse,” and attaching importance to the working methods of young intellectuals.

영문 초록

《五四运动》是毛泽东于1939 年4 月撰写的一篇重要文献，以纪念五四运动二十周年。此文最早于1939 年5 月1 日在中共中央机关刊物《解放》上公开发表，新中国成立以后，经过毛泽东亲自修改，收录在人民出版社1952 年3 月第1 版《毛泽东选集》第二卷。通过对重点版本进行校勘，总结其修改的原因，有助于更好地理解毛泽东思想发展的历程。回归《五四运动》最早的公开文本，毛泽东运用马克思主义的世界观和方法论，初步系统回答了中国革命和中国青年运动的一系列理论和实践问题，对提出新民主主义革命理论、构建中国共产党“五四话语”体系、重视青年知识分子的工作方法等方面具有重要价值。
