국문 초록

耕齋 李建昇(1858~1924)이 만주 망명 시기에 쓴 시문은 『海耕堂收草』에 수록된 ｢西來偶存｣·｢興道收草｣·｢接梨收草｣, 이렇게 세 개의 ｢詩稿｣로 전한다. 이 ｢시고｣들은 조선 왕실의 후손이자, 가족의 어른, 그리고 한문학을 기반으로 하는 전통 지식인 耕齋가 망명의 日常을 紙筆로 삼아 ‘시로 쓴 自述書’라 할 만하다. 耕齋가 망국의 문사로서 피맺힌 망명길에 오르기까지 결단과 결행의 심리적 과정, 망명의 여정과 망명에 대한 생각이 모두 담겨 있다. 본고에서는 耕齋가 만주 망명을 시작한 시기, 곧 ‘西來期’의 작품을 분석하였다. 2장에서는 ｢西來偶存｣에 수록된 시를 순차적으로 살폈는데, 망명 초기 여정의 주요 공간인 강화·개성·의주·구련성을 중심으로 耕齋의 감정과 논리를 세밀하게 추적해 보았다. 망명은 가장 비일상적 사건이지만 그 낯선 시공간 속에서 茶飯事와 같은 규칙적이면서 소소한 행위들이 여전히 반복되는 한편, 개인·공동체·국가의 현실이 작동하는 치열한 공간으로서 다층적 의미를 갖는다. 따라서 일상 혹은 생활사 관점에서의 망명에 대한 고찰은 망국의 시대에 직면한 지식인으로서 책임을 다하고자 분투했던 지식인 耕齋와 그가 딛고 살았던 망명지 현실 그 자체에 대한 考證이기도 하다. 또한, 본고는 국권침탈과 亡國이라는 우리 역사의 특수-특정한 국면에서 발생한 ‘망명자 문학’을 한문학사로 수렴하고, 역시 망명을 계기로 창작된 국문가사와 국문일기 등 국문문학의 성과를 포괄하여 우리문학사에서 ‘망명문학’의 성격과 의미를 명확히 해야 한다는 점을 제기하였다.

영문 초록

The writings of Gyeongjae Lee Geon-seung(1858~1924) during his exile in Manchuria are preserved in the 『Haegyeongdangsocho』, encompassing three poetry manuscripts: ｢Seoraeujeon｣, ｢Heungdosucho｣ and ｢Jeopsucho｣. These manuscripts serve as autobiographical poems, reflecting the daily life of Gyeongjae, a descendant of the Joseon royal family, a family patriarch, and a traditional intellectual rooted in Classical Chinese literature. They encapsulate his psychological journey of determination and action leading up to his exile as a loyalist scholar of the fallen Joseon Dynasty, as well as his experiences and reflections during his journey of exile. This study analyzes Gyeongjae's works from the early period of his Manchurian exile, particularly focusing on the ｢Seoraeujeon｣. In the second chapter, a sequential analysis of the poems in ｢Seoraeujeon｣ is conducted, tracing Gyeongjae's emotions and logic as he navigates through significant locations of his early exile journey, such as Ganghwa, Gaeseong, Uiju, and Guryeseong. Exile, although the most extraordinary event, is depicted through the repetition of routine, mundane actions within unfamiliar times and spaces, imbued with multifaceted significance as a fierce space where the realities of the individual, community, and nation intersect. Thus, examining exile from the perspective of daily life or social history not only corroborates the reality of exile experienced by the intellectual Gyeongjae, who strove to fulfill his responsibilities in the face of national ruin, but also elucidates the very reality of the exile sites he inhabited. Furthermore, this study argues that ‘exile literature’, which emerged during the unique and specific historical context of national subjugation and the fall of our nation, should be integrated into the history of Classical Chinese literature. The study also underscores the need to clarify the characteristics and significance of ‘exile literature’ within the broader context of Korean literary history by encompassing the achievements of Korean literature, such as vernacular prose and diaries, which were also created as a result of exile.
