국문 초록

한국은 2022년에 173억 달러, 2023년에 130억 달러를 웃도는 방산 수출계약을 체결했다. 최근 방산 수출의 대표 무기체계인 K2 전차, K9 자주포, FA-50 경공격기, 천무(K-239)를 대상으로 한국은행이 작성한 ‘2019년 산업연관표’를 활용하여 경제적 효과를 측정하고 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다. 주요 방산 수출 무기체계를 고려하여 방산 수출의 경쟁력을 기술 경쟁력, 가격 경쟁력, 공급 경쟁력, 수출 지원기반 경쟁력으로 구분하고 각각 경쟁력을 높이는 방안을 제시하였다. 방위산업의 경쟁력이 높아질수록 방산 수출이 증가하고 규모의 경제를 달성하여 투자가 확대되면 핵심 국방과학기술이 고도화되고, 고부가가치 구조가 정착되어 지속 성장이 가능한 방산 생태계가 구축될 것이다.

영문 초록

The ROK signed a defense export contract worth US 17.3 billion in 2022. For the K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled howitzers, FA-50, and Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers, which are representative weapon systems for defense exports, economic effects were measured and policy implications were presented using the 2019 input-output tables provided by the Bank of Korea. The competitiveness of defense exports was divided into technological, price, supply, and export support-based competitiveness. The plan to increase defense export competitiveness was presented. As the competitiveness of the defense industry increases, defense export increase and investments expand as economics of scale are achieved. As a result, defense core technology will advanced, and a high value-added structure will be established to operate a defense industry ecosystem capable of sustainable growth.
