자크 오디아르의 <러스트 앤 본>에 나타난 몸과 권력의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 프랑스 작가주의 감독 자크 오디아르의 <러스트 앤 본>에 드러나는육체성에 주목하여 오늘날 신자유주의 세계 속 몸과 권력의 관계에 대한 영화적재현을 살펴본다. 이 작품에서는 육체적으로는 완벽하지만 사회적 규범이 요구하는 정상성에 미치지 못하는 경제적 무능력자인 남성과 사회의 주류로 살다가 어느 날 갑자기 육체에 훼손을 입어 장애인이 됨으로써 사회의 중심부로부터 떨어 져 나오게 된 여성의 만남을 제시한다. 이 두 인물을 ‘불완전한 몸’으로 정의하고각각의 몸이 재현되는 양상을, 훼손된 육체와 원시적 육체로 구분하여 분석해 보고자 한다. 서로 다른 측면에서 결여 혹은 결핍된 몸을 가진 두 인물이 생존해 나가는 양상을 살펴보고 이들의 사적 유대 관계에서 시작되는 삶의 전환을 통해 현대 사회에서 주변인들이 주체로 살아갈 수 있는 가능성을 모색해 본다. 개인을제어하고 지배하는 권력의 문제, 그리고 주권의 영역으로부터 배제되고 버려진개인을 지속적인 테마로 삼고 있는 오디아르의 영화들을 통해 생물학적 실존에서부터 저항의 실마리를 발견해 보고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the cinematic representation of the relationship between body and power in the neoliberal world today, focusing on the physicality revealed in Rust and Bone by french director Jacques Audiard. In this film, we see the relationship between a man who is physically perfect but who is economically incapable of meeting the normality required by social norms and a woman who lived in the mainstream of society but suddenly became physically disabled and separated from the center of society. Defining these two characters as ‘imperfect’, ‘deficient bodies’, we analyze the representation of the two bodies dividing into damaged body and primitive body. And this study examines the survival of two characters with lacking bodies in different ways and explores the possibility of living as subject in modern society through the transition of life that begins with their personal ties. I would like to discover the clues of resistance from biological existence of power that control and dominate the individual, focusing on Audiard’s films with the persistent theme of being excluded and abandoned from sovereignty.
