국문 초록

중국의 부상은 경제뿐만 아니라 정치군사적 측면에서 동시에 진행되고 있다. 중국의 대외전략은 미국 주도의 동아시아 국제질서에 단기적 차원에서 도전하는 모습을 가급적 삼가면서 경제발전을 통해 축적한 힘을 정치 및 군사적 영향력 확대로 연결시키는 것이다. 과연 한반도를 중심으로 한 강대국들 간의 역학관계가 중장기적으로 어떻게 전개될 지에 대한 해답을 얻기 위해선 동아시아 강대국 역학구도의 최대 변수로 떠오른 중국에 대한 여타 강대국의 인식과 전략을 파악할 필요가 있다. 따라서 아시아에서 가장 영향력 있는 강대국들(미국, 일본, 러시아, 인도)이 단기 및 중장기적 차원에서 추진하고 있는 중국에 대한 외교안보전략의 방향과 내용을 분석하였다. 이들의 대 중국 외교안보전략에 대한 분석을 토대로 향후 한국의 대 중국 및 동북아 안보전략에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

The rise of China has been taking place in the economic as well as politico-military domain. China's external strategy is focused on transforming its economic capability into expanded political and military power although she refrains from challenging the US-led East Asian order. In this light, China has emerged as the most important variable for predicting the future of great power relations in Asia. It is thus necessary to find out perceptions and strategies of other great powers vis-a-vis China so that we can come up with an answer to the uncertain future of the great power relationship. Those great powers include the United States, Japan, Russia, and India. Out of the analysis on their policies toward China, we have drawn useful implications for Korea's strategy to China and other Northeast Asian countries.
