이민자를 위한 사회통합 프로그램 교재의 한국 사회문화 관련 내용 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 2021년부터 사용되고 있는 법무부 사회통합 프로그램 교재의 한국 사회문화 영역 내용 분석을 통해 이민자용 한국 사회문화 영역 교재 개선을 위한 시사점을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 개정된 <한국어와 한국문화> 교재 4권, <한국사회 이해> 교재 2권의 단원별 구성과 비중, 사회문화에 대한 접근 방식의 특징, 두 교재의 관련성 등에 초점을 맞추어 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, <한국어와 한국문화>에서는 주로 사회, 문화 분야의 내용을 많이 다루고 있고, 정치, 법, 역사, 지리 등은 많이 등장하지 않고 있다. 둘째, 두 교재 모두 문화 비교론적인 관점을 일정 부분 반영하고 있다. 셋째, 사회문화에 대한 총체론적 관점은 주로 <한국사회 이해> 교재에서 일부 나타나고 있다. 넷째, <한국사회 이해>는 대체로 시사적인 소재, 통계 수치 등을 많이 사용하고 있고 <한국어와 한국문화>에서는 상대적으로 학습자의 일상생활 및 한국의 전통문화 관련 소재들을 많이 활용하고 있다. 다섯째, 두 교재에서 다루는 소재 간 관련성과 계열성을 상당 부분 갖추고 있다. 향후 한국 사회문화 영역 교재 구성과 관련한 시사점을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교재 간의 관련성과 계열성 및 비교 문화론적 관점을 더욱 확대할 필요가 있다. 둘째, <한국사회 이해> 교재에서는 총체론적 관점 반영이 좀 더 필요하다. 셋째, 한국 사회문화 관련 소재를 다양화하고 소재의 시사성, 실용성 등을 더욱 높일 필요가 있다. 넷째, 두 교재의 집필 과정에서 개발진 간의 더욱 긴밀한 협력과 상호작용이 필요하다.

영문 초록

The Social Integration Programs run by the Ministry of Justice play an important role in coping with growing immigration in Korea. All immigrants joining the Program use two kinds of textbooks: (1) Korean Language and Culture and (2) Understanding Korean Society. In December 2020, the newly revised textbooks were published; it is necessary to examine if they are assisting immigrants’ anticipatory socialization into Korean society. This study aims to analyze the two newly revised textbooks used for the social integration programs run by the Ministry of Justice and to suggest implications on how to further improve them. For this purpose, the content on Korean society and culture in the revised textbooks were analyzed. These are the major findings. First, Korean Language and Culture mostly deals with Korean society and culture while rarely touching on Korean politics, laws, history and geography. Second, both textbooks partly reflect the comparative view of culture. Third, the holistic view of culture can be found only in the second book (Understanding Korean Society), but not very often. Fourth, Understanding Korean Society covers more current issues and statistics than Korean Language and Culture while Korean Language and Culture deals with more useful items for daily lives and traditional Korean culture than the other. Fifth, considerable relevance when it comes to topics has been found between the two textbooks. In order to develop further improved textbooks on Korean society and culture for future immigrants, the developers of the textbooks should select more current and useful materials on Korean society and culture with holistic and comparative views of culture. In addition, it is necessary for the developers of each book to work in closer cooperation with one another.
