A Study on the Relationship between Occupational Stress and Job Satisfaction of College English Teachers in China

국문 초록

대학 영어교사의 직업 스트레스와 직업 만족도 수준은 교사의 자체 개발, 영어 교실 교육의 질 및 학교 개발에 직접 영향을 미친다. 이 논문은 중국 길림성 창춘시의 대학 영어교사 265명을 대상으로 직업 스트레스와 직업 만족도 사이의 상태와 관계를 탐구하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 대학 영어교사는 큰 업무 스트레스를 받고 (M=3.72), 직업 만족도는 중간 수준 (M=3.10) 이다. 둘째, 직무 스트레스와 직무 만족 간에 유의한 상관관계가 있다 (r=-.500, p<.01). 셋째, 강의스트레스를 제외하고, 직업스트레스의 모든 차원에서 직업만족도가 크게 예측되어 좋은 예측효과가 있었다. 마지막으로, 데이터 분석 결과, 대학 영어교사의 업무 스트레스를 완화하기 위한 제안을 제시함으로써 교사의 업무에 대한 열정을 자극하고, 업무 만족도를 향상시켜 경력 개발의 열정과 효과를 유지하고, 대학 및 사회 발전을 위해 동기를 부여하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The level of College English teachers’ occupational stress and job satisfaction are directly related to the development of teachers themselves, the quality of English classroom teaching and even the development of the school. This study takes 265 English teachers from colleges and universities in Changchun, Jilin Province, China as the survey object, discusses the status quo and relationship between them, and draws the following conclusions: First, college English teachers are over-stressed (M=3.72), job satisfaction is at a medium level (M=3.10); Second, there is a significant correlation between the two (r=-.500, p<.01); Third, except for teaching, all dimensions of occupational stress significantly predict job satisfaction. Finally, based on the results of data analysis, it is proposed to alleviate the occupational stress of college English teachers, inspire teachers enthusiasm for work and improve their job satisfaction. This will help them maintain their enthusiasm and effectiveness in career development and encourage them to make more contributions to the development of universities and social progress.
