요한이서와 요한삼서의 구문과 구조 비교

국문 초록

요한이서와 요한삼서는 분명한 사랑과 진리의 복음 메시지로 인해 많은 사랑을 받아왔다. 그런데 현재까지 요한이서와 요한삼서를 구문과 구조를 비교하면서 분석한 연구는 거의 없다. 이러한 미진한 연구의 틈을 염두에 두고, 이글은 구문분석과 담론분석을 통해서 이 두 서신을 비교한다. 구문분석은 한문장 안의 단어들 간의 관련성을 밝히는 작업으로서, 사고구조분석의 작은 단계를 활용한다. 구문분석은 모든 단어들 사이의 관련성을 도표로 제시하고, 구문적 특성을 통계화 한다. 구조분석(콜론분석)은 문장이나 문단 안에서 저자의 사고의 흐름을 수평적 표지와 수직적 표지를 통해서 파악하는 작업이다. 구조분석에 본문비평, 그레코-로마 서신의 구조와의 비교, 그리고 수사학적 분석도 필요시 포함된다. 이 글의 순서는 다음과 같다: (1) 요한이서의 구문 및 구조분석, (2) 요한삼서의 구문 및 구조분석, 그리고 (3) 이 두 서신의 구문 및 구조적 특징 비교. 이 글을 통해 요한이서와 삼서는 단순명료한 논리전개를 치밀한 구문과 구조와 수사학적 기법을 통해 전개하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 비록 요한이 독자에게 권면하는 논리적 순서에 있어서 두 서신은 차이를 보이지만, 동일한 수사학적 기교들을 활용하여 독자를 설득하는 점에서는 유사하다.

영문 초록

2 John and 3 John are favored by many Christians because of their lucid messages and encouraging tones of love and truth. But until now, there has been no research on the comparison between 2 John and 3 John in terms of both syntax and structure. In order to fill this research gap, this paper compares these two epistles by syntactical and discourse analyses. For syntactical analyses, the thoroughgoing method of the micro level of thought structural analysis (TSA) is used. TSA focuses on the thought flow of the author by finding the relationships among words in a sentence. For structural analyses, the colon analysis or the discourse analysis is applied to the two Johannine Epistles. Colon analysis focuses on the interconnectedness among the sentences by scrutinizing the vertical and horizontal markers. Three steps are followed to investigate similarities and differences of the epistles which are the shortest books of the New Testament: (1) the syntax and structure of 2 John, (2) the syntax and structure of 3 John, and (3) a comparison of syntactical and structural characteristics of the two epistles. Through this research, it is manifest that logical thought of the elder John is unfolded in a simple and lucid way in the well interwoven syntax and structure and rhetorical devices for effective persuasion. While the orders of petitions are varied in 2 John and 3 John, common rhetorical strategies make the elder’s petitions towards the readers effective.
