국문 초록

지적재산에 대한 전형적 평가는 평가목적에 따라 소득, 원가 및 시장 접근법 중 하나를 활용한다. 소득접근법은 지적재산의 높은 불확실성을 수용하기 위해서 종종 실물옵션기법을 도입하고 있다. 그러나 실물옵션기법이 지적재산이 갖는 위험행태의 변화를 반영할 수 있음에도 불구하고, 실무적용에는 너무 복잡하다는 비판을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 간단한 의사결정나무 분석기법을 평가과정에 반영하는 수정된 소득접근법을 제시한다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 수정소득접근법을 제시하며, 계량적 측정의 관점에서 매출비교법, 로열티공제법 등의 시장접근법과 비교한다. 비교결과는 시장정보를 입수할 수 있다면, 시장접근법도 상대적으로 높은 객관성 및 목적적합성을 확보할 수 있음을 시사하고 있다. 본 연구의 수정소득접근법은 지적재산의 평가과정에 기업위험 및 시장위험 모두를 반영할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 수정소득접근법은 전통적 순현재가치기법의 선결요건인 지적재산 거래시장의 효율성, 완전성 및 비교가능성을 완화시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Typical intellectual property valuation utilizes one of income, cost, and market approaches based on the underlying valuation purposes. To accommodate high uncertainties in intellectual properties, income approach often takes the real option technique into the valuation process. Although the real option technique accommodates changes in the risk pattern of an intellectual property, it is too complex to apply in valuation practices. This study suggests a modified income approach to intellectual property valuation by incorporating simple decision tree analysis into valuation process. Utilizing the modified technique, this study compares the market approaches such as the Sales Comparison Method and Relief from Royalty Method with the traditional income and cost approaches. The comparison shows relatively high degree of objectivity and relevance in the market approach as long as the market related information is available. This study’s modified income approach incorporates the firm-specific and market risks into the valuation process for an intellectual property. Also, the modified income approach mitigates the traditional NPV’s prerequisites on efficiency, completeness, and comparability of intellectual property trading market.
