지적장애여성의 성폭력 피해 경험에 대한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 지적장애여성의 성폭력 피해 경험을 탐색하여 성폭력 피해 경험 전후 이들의 생활에서 벌어지는 현상을 이해하고자 하는 질적 사례연구이다. 본 연구의 참여자는 성폭력 피해 경험이 있는 지적장애여성 중 인터뷰가 가능한 경도지적장애여성이다. 수집된 자료에 대한 질적사례연구를 통해 사례를 아우르는 공통적인 이슈들을 통합하여 지적장애여성의 성폭력 피해 경험을 나타낼 수 있는 주제의 형태로 서술하였다. 주제분석 결과 연구 참여자들 간 공통적으로 나타난 성폭력 피해 경험의 이슈를 총 7개의 범주로 추출하였다. 추출된 범주는 ‘장애정체성의미확립’, ‘장애를 이용당함’, ‘상황을 예측하지 못함’, ‘내 인생이 사라짐’, ‘다른 사람에게 이야기하지 않음’, ‘지지받지 못함’, ‘반복적인 위험에 노출됨’으로 나타났다. 연구 참여자들은 지적장애이지만 지적장애에 대한 보호나 개입을 받지 못하고 성장하여 장애에 대한 정체성이 확립되지 못하였다. 연구 참여자가 가진 장애를 가해자가 성폭력의 도구로 사용하였고 연구 참여자들은 성폭력이 일어날 수 있는 상황에 놓이게 되는 과정에서 자신에게 일어날 일을 전혀 예측하지 못하였다. 성폭력 피해 경험을 스스로 인지하는 과정에서 인생이 사라졌다고 생각하였지만 성폭력 피해 경험에 대하여 다른 사람에게 이야기하지 않았고 성폭력 트라우마에 대한 적절한 상담, 보호, 개입을 받은 적이 없었다. 또한 성폭력 이후에도 또다시 성폭력 상황에 놓이게 되기도 하였다. 연구결과 지적장애여성에 대하여 생애주기별 변화에 따른 개입과 성폭력 예방교육이 필요함을 알 수있었고 지적장애여성이 이용하는 기관 종사자들이 지적장애여성의 성폭력에 대한 민감성을 기를수 있도록 실천적 개입방법을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

In this qualitative case study, the sexual violence experiences of females with intellectual disability were investigated to understand what happened before and after the sexual violence. The collected data were analyzed using the methods of case analysis. Through case analysis of the common issues of the sexual violence experiences of the three, seven themes were derived. Themes are as follows: “failure to disability identity”, “exploited disability”, “unexpected situations”, “lost own lives”, “do not talk to others”, “no support”, “repetitive exposure to danger”. They were not even aware that they have intellectual disabilities. The sex offenders used the intellectual disability as a tool of sexual violence. Three interviewees in this study never expected that they would be sexually violated. After they realized that they were sexually violated in reality, they were afraid that their life would be vanished. They thought that nobody would help them even if they told others about the sexual violences based on their previous family experiences. The interviewees did not receive proper counseling, protection,or intervention after their sexual violence. The interviewees place themselves in situations where they could be sexually attacked again. Based on the results of this study, following suggestions and implications on social services for women with intellectual disabilities who were sexually violated. First, an educational protocol for preventing women with intellectual disabilities from sexual violence. Second, the staff of social welfare facilities has to intervene the sexual violence cases as soon as they know about the incident.
