영문 초록

This paper aims to study why the Prophet Muhammad had negative perceptions against poetry and poet. So I tried to search the ground of his negative perceptions of poetry and poets from the Qur’ān and the Sunnah. Because the two sources of the Islamic law were the decisive evidentiary material to look into the perceptions of everything that Muhammad and Muslims have. According to research data, overall in the Qur’ān, poetry is considered to be negative, except that its contents contain good deeds and defending Islam. In the Sunnah, one may find both positive and negative perceptions of poetry and poet.
