다인수 수업에서의 PBL 튜터 역할에 대한 연구

국문 초록

다인수 수업으로 진행되는 대부분의 대학 수업에서 문제중심학습이 이루어질 때는 한 명의 튜터가 하나의 학습 그룹을 관리하는 본래의 문제중심학습 모형과는 달리 한 명의 튜터가 여러 학습 그룹의 학습 활동을 지원해애 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 다인수 수업 문제중심학습에서 튜터가 어떻게 역할을 하는지 그 특징을 살펴보고, 이에 근거하여 다인수 문제중심학습에서의 튜터 역할에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 수도권소재 A 대학교에서 PBL로 진행된 다인수 수업을 연구대상으로 하여, 튜터의 역할을 수행한 교수자와 심층면접을 실시하고, 전체 수강 학생들을 대상으로 튜터 역할에 대한 그들의 인식을 묻는 개방형 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 연구결과 다인수 수업 문제중심학습에서의 튜터 역할의 특징은 다음과 같았다. 튜터는 문제중심학습의 과정을 안내하고 지도하기보다 학습 내용에 대한 안내를 보다 비중있게 수행하고, 강좌 전반에 대한 운영 및 관리 역할을 강화하게 된다. 또한 정해진 시간에 여러 학습 그룹을 관리해야하므로 짧은 시간에 각 학습 그룹의 논의 사항을 파악하고, 여러 학습 그룹들이 공통적으로 경험하는 유사한 문제 상황에 효율적으로 대처해야 하며, 고실 상황에서 충분히 이루어지지 못한 튜터 지원을 보완하기 위한 대안을 마련하는 것이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

When PBL(Problem Based Learning) is implemented in university level courses, it is not always possible to have a tutor with each group because of resource limitation. Therefore, in many PBL cases in universities, students work in groups and a tutor moves from group to group during class providing guidance. However, there has been few studies on the roles of tutor in such PBL cases. This study was conducted to increase the understanding of PBL tutor's roles in a large class and to provide implications for the PBL tutoring strategy. With this purpose, this study explored the characteristics of roles of a PBL tutory in large classes from the perspectives of students and a tutor. Three PBL courses with a tutor in A university located in the metropolitan area were selected for data collection. Data was collected through interviews with a tutor and student survey with open ended questions about the roles of a tutor. In the results, it was found that PBL tutor in a large class provided content related guidance more than process related guidance, and class management became an their important role. As a tutor had to take care of many groups in a limited time, she should grasp points of discussion in each group in a short time, deal efficiently with some common challenges many groups meet, and take measures to make up for the insufficient tutor's guidance in a classroom.
