제7차 유치원 교육과정 언어생활, 마주이야기 교육으로 풀어보기

국문 초록

  유치원 교육은 유아에게 알맞은 교육환경을 제공하여 몸과 마음의 조화로운 발달을 돕는 것을 목적으로 한다. 따라서 유치원 교육과정은 유아들의 전인적인 성장을 돕기 위한 길잡이라 할 수 있다. 유치원 교육과정은 1969년에 처음으로 제정 공포된 뒤 다섯 차례에 걸쳐 개정 고시되었고 이번에 개정안이 마련된 7차 교육과정은 2009년 3월부터 시행 될 예정이다. 새로 마련 된 교육과정은 성격, 목표, 내용, 지도상의 유의점으로 구성되었다.
  이 글에서는 제7차 유치원 교육과정 언어생활영역을 현장교사의 눈으로 살펴보고자 했다. 또 교육과정을 살펴볼 때 ‘교육내용을 어떻게 선정하고 조직하는가?’의 문제만큼 ‘무엇을 교육내용으로 하는가?’도 중요하므로 아이들 말을 으뜸으로 하는 마주이야기 교육을 사례로 들어 ‘무엇을 가르칠 것인가?’에 대한 본보기를 제시하려 했다.
  요약하면 다음과 같다.
  첫째, 교육과정 언어생활영역 성격 기술에 있어서 언어생활영역만이 갖는 독특한 개념진술보다는 언어생활의 목표를 달성하기위해 중점을 두는 부분을 기술하는데 그쳐 언어생활영역의 성격을 분명하게 나타내지 못했다.
  둘째, 내용은 내용체계와 수준별 내용으로 나뉘고 수준별 내용은 Ⅰ수준, Ⅱ수준으로 나뉘었는데 Ⅰ,Ⅱ수준으로 나눈 그 기준이 매우 애매모호하다. 따라서 국가수준 교육과정에서는 가르칠 핵심내용만 간단히 제시하고 교육활동 지도 자료집에 구체적이고 수준별로 나눈 다양한 교육활동 내용을 담았으면 좋겠다.
  셋째, 마주이야기는 아이들 말을 아이들이 보고 듣고 겪어 생각한 일들이 몸에서 거르고 걸러 소리로 나오는 것이라 보며 따라서 아이들 말을 으뜸으로 여기는 교육이다. 7차 교육과정 언어생활영역에서 아이들의 말과 아이들의 지금 여기의 삶을 중요하게 여기는 마주이야기 교육과의 접점을 찾는다면 새 교육과정은 아이들 삶으로 가득 찬 살아있는 교육과정으로 거듭날 것이다.
  넷째, 아이들 말을 으뜸으로 하는 마주이야기 교육은 언어생활영역뿐 아니라 다른 생활영역과의 통합을 시도할 수 있다. 또 마주 이야기로 문집 만들기, 노래 부르기, 상장 만들기, 마주이야기 졸업식 따위의 다양한 교육활동은 유아들이 말과 글로 자기를 세상에 당당하게 드러내면서 자신 있게 삶을 가꾸어 갈 수 있도록 돕는다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of kindergarten education is to help its pupils develop their body and mind simultaneously by providing them with a proper educational environment. Thus, a kindergarten curriculum is a guide for the kindergarteners to grow up to be a whole person. The kindergarten curriculum was first established and notified in 1969 and revised and notified five times after then, and the seventh one presently revised is to come into effect from March, 2009. The newly established curriculum consists of its characteristics, objectives, contents, and teacher’s guide.
  This article is intended to look into the language life domain of the seventh kindergarten curriculum with the view of the actual teachers. Examining the curriculum, since the matter of ‘What are the educational contents?’ is as important as the one of ‘How is the curriculum selected and organized?’, this study suggests the examples of ‘What are the educational contents?’ with the case of the Majuiyagi education that values children’s words the most.
  To sum up, it is as below.
  First, the curriculum does not effectively show the characteristics of the domain due to its focus on describing how to achieve its objectives rather than stating its unique concepts while describing the characteristics of the domain.
  Second, the contents are divided into content system and leveled contents, level Ⅰand Ⅱ, but the criteria for the levels are ambiguous. Thus, it is suggested that the national curriculum briefly introduce the main contents to teach, and the guidance book for the teaching activities should include various contents for concrete teaching activities by levels.
  Third, the Majuiyagi education values children’s words the most, considering that they seem to make sounds after they filter several times in the body the things that they see, hear, experience, and think. If the language life domain of the curriculum could find the point of integrating the Majuiyagi education which considers children’s words and their lives here and now the most important, the new curriculum would be an excellent one full of children’s vital lives.
  Fourth, the Majuiyagi education valuing children’s words can be integrated other life domains as well as the language life one. Moreover, various teaching activities using Majuiyagi, such as making a collection or diploma, singing, and graduation ceremony, would help the pupils to lead their lives by proudly expressing themselves into the world with their own words and writings.
