국문 초록

그림책은 글, 이미지, 책이라는 매체의 조합을 예술적인 방식으로 구성한 것으로, 미술 수업에서는 미술과 관련한 글 텍스트, 이미지의 예술성, 책이라는 물성의 다양한 실험 등 여러 요소를 활용할 수 있다. 그림책에 대한 미술교육 논의가 한정적인 상황에서, 본 연구는 초등 예비교사에게 적용한 교육 프로그램의 초반부와 후반부 인식을 비교함으로써 그림책이 미술교육에서 어떻게 확장적으로 활용될 수 있는지 그 가능성에 대한 공동 탐구를 진행하여 초등 미술 수업에의 적용 방식에 대해 고찰하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 초등 예비교사들은 글 텍스트의 내용 중심에서 나아가 이미지의 다양성 및 책의 물성을 미술 수업과 연계할 수 있었으며, 그림책 작가의 다감각적 실험을 살펴보고 미술 수업 또한 다감각적으로 진행될 수 있음을 파악하였다. 또한, 그림책 감상자의 입장에서 충분한 시간이 필요하며 다른 사람들과 함께 읽는 과정을 통해 그림책의 세부 요소를 깊게 감상할 수 있음을 알게 되었다. 본 연구는 타 교과와 차별화되는 미술교육 측면의 그림책 활용 방안에 대한 새로운 관점을 제시한다는 데 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Picturebooks, as artistic compositions of text, image, and material form, offer rich possibilities for art education. In the context of art education, they offer multiple elements for exploration, such as art-textual related content, the artistic quality of images, and experimental uses of the books’ materiality. Despite this potential, scholarly discussions of picturebooks within art education remain limited. This study investigates the re-conceptualization of picturebooks as art teaching materials through a program designed for preservice elementary teachers, examining how their perceptions have evolved. Given the limited discourse surrounding picture books in art education, this study conducted a collaborative inquiry into their potential by comparing preand post-program perceptions of prospective elementary school teachers who participated in an art education program. The findings indicate that preservice teachers shifted from a text-centered view of picturebooks to recognizing their aesthetic and material dimensions as pedagogical resources. They also acknowledged the multisensory potential of picturebooks, recognizing that art lessons can expand beyond a visual emphasis toward more holistic, multisensory approaches. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of extended viewing time and collaborative viewing for deeper engagement with visual details. This study presents a novel perspective on the pedagogical use of picturebooks within the context of art education, highlighting its distinctive approaches compared to other subject areas.
