교류분석의 성격적응 유형과 불교의 탐진치와의 관계 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 서구 심리학 이론인 교류분석(TA)의 성격적응 유형과 동양 불교 심리학의 핵심 개념인 탐(貪)․진(瞋)․치(癡) 삼독 간의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하여, 동서양 심리 이론의 통합적 이해를 위한 기초를 마련하고자 하였다. 대학생 140명을 대상으로 한국판 성격적응척도(K-JPAQ)와 삼독척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하고, 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 대부분의 성격적응 유형은 삼독 및 하위 요인(탐, 진, 치)과 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 특히 유희적 반항자(PR), 창의적 몽상가(CD), 재기형 회의자(BS) 유형이 삼독과 높은 관련성을 나타냈다. 회귀분석 결과, 생존적 성격적응 유형(CD, BS, CM)과 실행적 성격적응 유형(PR, EO) 중 특정 유형들이 탐, 진, 치 수준을 유의하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났으며, 예측 양상은 유형별로 차이를 보였다. 예를 들어, 재기형 회의자(BS)와 유희적 반항자(PR)는 탐과 진을 강하게 예측했고, 창의적 몽상가(CD)는 진과 치를 유의하게 예측했다. 반면, 열정적 과잉반응자(EO)는 치(癡)를 부적으로 예측하는 독특한 결과를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 교류분석의 성격적응 구조가 불교에서 말하는 심리적 고통의 근원(삼독)과 밀접하게 연관됨을 시사하며, 개인의 성격적응 유형 파악이 내담자의 핵심 번뇌를 이해하고 맞춤형 상담 전략을 수립하는 데 기여할 수 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구는 동서양 심리학의 통합적 접근 가능성에 대한 실증적 근거를 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study empirically analyzed the association between personality adaptations from Transactional Analysis (TA), and the three-poisons greed (貪欲, lobha), anger (瞋恚, dosa), ignorance (愚癡, moha), core concepts in Buddhist psychology, to lay a foundation for an integrative understanding of Eastern and Western psychological theories. Data were collected from 140 university students using the Korean version of the Personality Adaptation Questionnaire (K-JPAQ) and the Three-Poisons Scale, and correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results showed that most personality adaptation types had a significant positive correlation with the three-poisons and their sub-factors (greed, anger, ignorance). In particular, the Playful-Resister (PR), Creative-Daydreamer (CD), and Brilliant-Skeptic (BS) types showed a high correlation with the three-poisons. The regression analysis revealed that certain survival personality adaptation types (CD, BS, Charming-Manipulator (CM)) and performing personality adaptation types (PR, Enthusiastic-Overreactor (EO)) significantly predicted the levels of greed, anger, and ignorance, with prediction patterns varying by type. For example, the Brilliant-Skeptic (BS) and Playful-Resister (PR) strongly predicted greed and anger, while the Creative-Daydreamer (CD) significantly predicted anger and ignorance. In contrast, the Enthusiastic-Overreactor (EO) showed a unique result of negatively predicting ignorance. These findings suggest that the personality adaptation structure of Transactional Analysis is closely related to the sources of psychological suffering (the three-poisons) described in Buddhism. This indicates that identifying an individual's personality adaptation type can contribute to understanding the client's core afflictions and developing tailored counseling strategies. This study is significant in that it presents empirical evidence for the potential of an integrative approach to Eastern and Western psychology.
