국문 초록

본 연구는 중학교와 고등학교 시기 학업 무기력의 발달양상과 더불어 학업열의, 또래애착의영향을 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 한국청소년정책연구원 아동⋅청소년패널조사 2018의 중1패널 1차(중1) ∼ 6차(고3) 2,590명 자료이다. 연구 결과 중등학교 시기 학업 무기력은 선형기울기가증가하다가 점차 감소하는 이차함수모형이 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 청소년 시기 학업 무기력의종단적 변화에 대한 학업열의의 영향을 살펴본 결과 학업열의가 높을수록 학업 무기력은 낮아지며 이러한 영향은 시간이 지날수록 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 학업 무기력의 종단적 변화에서 또래애착의 영향을 살펴본 결과 또래애착이 높을수록 학업 무기력은 높아지다가 다시 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 청소년 시기 학업 무기력이 증가하다가 감소하는 양상을 보이며, 학업열의와 또래애착이 학업 무기력의 부적인 영향을 완충시키는 효과가 있다는 것을 확인하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine the longitudinal developmental trajectories of academic helplessness during middle and high school years and investigate the effects of academic engagement and peer attachment. The data were drawn from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS), specifically the first through sixth waves of the first-year middle school panel, comprising 2,590 students. The results showed that academic helplessness followed a quadratic pattern, increasing linearly and gradually decreasing. The results of examining the effect of academic engagement on the longitudinal change of academic helplessness during adolescence showed that higher levels of academic engagement were associated with lower levels of academic helplessness, although this effect diminished over time. Also, the study showed that higher peer attachment initially correlated with increased academic helplessness, which then decreased later on. This study is significant because it highlights a pattern of academic helplessness during adolescence that initially increase and then decrease. Additionally, it confirms that both academic engagement and peer attachment can mitigate the negative effects of academic helplessness.
