교육성과 개선을 위한 핵심역량 요구분석 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 한 국립대학교 치의학과의 교육성과를 개선하기 위해 구성원들의 핵심역량에 대한 의견을 파악하고 핵심역량의 타당도를 점검하기 위한 요구분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 전임교원 56명과 졸업예정자 71명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 최종적으로 설문에 성실히 응답한 전임교원 35명과 졸업예정자 58명의 데이터를 활용하였다. 설문결과는 7개의 대영역과 50개의 세부영역으로 구성된 핵심역량에 대한 중요도 및 수행도 수준 측정, 중요도-수행도(IPA) 분석, 대응표본 t-test, Borich 요구도, The Locus for Focus Model을 통해 분석하였으며, 교육개선이 필요한 핵심역량을 도출하였다. 분석 결과를 종합하면, 교수와 학생 모두 핵심역량의 필요성에는 공감하고 있으나, 전반적으로 수행도 수준이 기대에 미치지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 임상역량과 관련된 세부 역량들은 중요도에 비해 수행도가 낮아, 교육 개선의 우선순위가 필요한 영역으로 확인되었다. 이와 더불어 교수 집단은 생의과학적 이해와 비판적 사고 역량에 대한 교육 필요성을, 학생 집단은 의료기관의 관리 및 경영, 지역사회 구강 보건 역량에 대한 교육 강화 필요성을 제시하였다. 이는 교수와 학생 간 인식 차이를 반영하며, 교육과정 개선 시 다양한 구성원의 요구를 함께 고려할 필요성을 시사한다. 본 연구는 치의학교육기관 핵심역량의 교육적 타당성을 진단하고, 교육성과 개선을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있는 실증적 근거를 제시하였다. 또한 향후 치의학교육 전반에 걸쳐 역량기반 중심의 교육 체계를 강화하고, 이론과 실무가 조화된 교육과정 설계를 지원하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to improve the educational outcomes of a national university’s school of dentistry by conducting a needs analysis assessing faculty members and graduating students’ perceiptions of core competencies and examining the validity of the existing competency framework. A survey was administered to 56 full-time faculty members and 71 graduating students, with data from 35 faculty members and 58 students used in the final analysis. The survey measured the perceived level of importance and performance of 50 sub-competencies across seven major domains. Various analytical methods—including Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), paired t-tests, the Borich Needs Assessment Model, and the Locus for Focus Model—were employed to identify areas for educational improvement. The findings indicate a shared recognition among both faculty and students of the necessity of core competencies; however, overall performance levels were perceived to fall short of expectations. Sub-competencies related to clinical skills were rated high in importance but low in performance, highlighting them as top priorities for curricular enhancement. While faculty emphasized competencies in biomedical understanding and critical thinking, students expressed a stronger need for education in healthcare management, administration, and community oral health. These differences underscore the importance of incorporating diverse perspectives into curriculum development. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the educational validity of core competencies and offers a basis for competency-based curriculum reform, contributing to the balance between theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dental education.
