그림책 읽어주기에 대한 유아교사의 인식

국문 초록

그림책은 유아기에 처음 접하는 책으로 이후 책 읽기 경험의 기초가 될 뿐만 아니라 문학교육을 위한 대표적인 형태이다. 유아교사의 그림책 읽어주기는 그림책을 사이에 두고 유아와 경험을 공유하는 과정으로 유아의 성장에 여러모로 도움을 준다. 본 연구에서는 유아교사가 그림책 읽어주기를 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 알아보기 위해 188명의 유아교사를 대상으로 설문 조사를 하였다. 연구결과, 대부분의 유아교사는 유아에게 그림책을 읽어주는 일을 긍정적으로 인식하였지만, 그림책을 유아에게 실제로 읽어주는 횟수가 부족하며, 그림책을 정기적으로 읽어주는 것이나 개별 유아의 상황을 고려한 그림책 선정의 중요성에 대한 인식이 부족하였고, 그림책을 읽어주는 방법, 읽어주는 동안 하는 상호작용의 방법에 대한 올바른 인식이 다소 부족하였다. 본 연구에서는 연구결과에 기초하여 유아교사를 위한 그림책 관련 연수의 필요성을 제기하였고, 앞으로 더욱 심층적인 유아교사의 인식에 대한 연구를 제안하였다. 본 연구는 유아교사의 그림책 읽어주기에 대한 인식을 알아봄으로써 앞으로 그림책 관련 교사연수 프로그램의 구성을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

As the first books that young children encounter, picturebooks serve as underlying reading experiences afterwards and constitute a representative form of literature for young children. Early childhood teachers' picturebook-reading helps the growth of young children in various ways because it is an experience-sharing process between early childhood teachers and young children. However, there is no study on early childhood teachers' perception of their picturebook-reading to young children and thus, 188 early children teachers are surveyed on their perception. The survey showed that most of the surveyed teachers are positive to picturebook-reading. However, the actual number of their picturebook-reading activities was not sufficient and they did not fully realize the importance of periodic picturebook-reading or picturebook selection tailored to children' individual needs. The survey also showed that they somewhat lack picturebook-reading techniques and methods for good interaction with children during the reading. Based on these findings, the need for educating early childhood teachers on picturebooks is suggested and further in-depth research on the picturebook-reading is recommended. The significance of this research is that it offers fundamental materials for developing future early childhood teacher education programs on picturebooks because the teachers' perception on picturebook-reading should be reflected in the programs.
