유치원 다문화 통합학급 다문화 유아의 의사소통 능력에 관한 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유치원에서 다문화 통합학급을 운영하는 교사가 다문화 유아의 의사소통 능력을 이해하고 지원하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 강원도 A시의 유치원 다문화가정 유아인 5세 별이(가명)를 단일 연구 참여자로 하여, 의사소통 능력을 파악하기 위하여 교사 학부모 유아 면담 전사본, 놀이 관찰 전사본 및 현장노트, 연구 일지 및 회의록, 기타 문서 등 다원적인 자료를 수집하고 질적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 가정과의 연계를 통한 발달 특징에서 별이의 언어생활 성장 배경, 의사소통 능력 수준, 갈등과 한계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 유치원 일과 관찰에서 일과 적응에 문제없어 보임, 비사회적 놀이 수준, 소극적 태도를 나타냈다. 셋째, 의사소통 능력 검사에서 의미 표현의 어려움으로 어휘 부족, 단문 위주의 표현, 의미 연결하여 이야기하기의 어려움이 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 한 시사점은 첫째, 유치원 다문화 통합학급을 운영하는 교사는 먼저 다문화 가정과의 연계를 통해 유아의 성장, 언어적 문화적 배경의 특징 등을 파악하여 맞춤형 지원 및 가이드를 제공하여야 한다. 둘째, 교사가 다문화가정 유아의 의사소통 능력 발달을 지원하기 위해서는 전체적인 발달 맥락에서 파악하고, 공인된 언어검사 도구를 통해 평가하되 점수 뿐만 아니라 관찰을 병행하여 다문화 유아의 언어 특성과 태도 등을 면밀히 파악할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for teachers who operate multicultural inclusive classes in kindergartens to understand and support multicultural children's communication skills. To this end, Byeol-i (pseudonym), a 5-year-old child from a multicultural family in a kindergarten in A city, Gangwon-do, was selected as a single research participant, and multidimensional data such as transcripts of interviews with teachers, parents, and children, transcriptions of play observations, field notes, research diaries and minutes, and other documents were collected and analyzed qualitatively. As a result, first, in the characteristics of development through connection with family, Byeol-i's language life growth background, communication ability level, and conflicts and limitations were shown. Second, what appeared in the observation of daily routines in the kindergarten were not a problem in daily adaptation, non-social play level, and passive attitude. Third, in the communication ability test, difficulty in expressing meaning was found to be due to a lack of vocabulary, and expression focused on short sentences with difficulty in connecting meanings. The implications based on these results are as follows: First, teachers who operate multicultural inclusive classes in kindergartens must first identify the characteristics of children's growth, linguistic and cultural backgrounds through connection with multicultural families, and provide customized support and guidancees. Second, for teachers to support the development of communication skills of children from multicultural families, they should identify them in the overall developmental context and evaluate them through certified language test tools. Additionally, it is necessary to closely understand the language characteristics and attitudes of multicultural children through observation and the evaluation scores of certified language test tools.
