난민 그림책 읽기에서 나타난 유아 반응 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 난민이 등장하는 그림책 읽기 과정에서 유아들의 반응을 질적으로 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 국내에서 출판된 난민 그림책 6권을 선정하였고, 연구 참여자는 S시 W유치원 종일반에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 6명이다. 자료수집은 2022년 7월 19일부터 8월 18일까지 이루어졌으며, 참여 유아는 선정된 난민 그림책 6권을 연구자와 함께 한 권씩 읽었다. 연구 결과, 난민 그림책 읽기 과정에서 나타난 유아 반응 상위범주는 ‘내 방식대로 바라보기’, ‘공감하며 난민 존재 바라보기’, ‘전쟁 바라보기’로 나타났다. 유아들은 초기에는 보이는 대로, 경험의 틀 안에서, 상상의 시선으로 바라보았으나 주차가 거듭될수록 난민의 슬픔을 공감하기, 선한 마음 표현하기, 사귐의 존재, 난민과 전쟁 관계를 이해하는 반응으로 변화했다. 따라서 전쟁 등으로 인한 난민 수가 증가하는 시대적 상황 속에서 유아들이 난민들의 삶을 이해하고, 나아가 평화의 중요성을 일깨워주는 매체로써 그림책 활용을 제시한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to qualitatively explore the response of children to reading refugee picture books. Six picture books published in Korea were selected for this research. The participants were six five-year-olds who were attending W kindergarten located in S city. The participating children and researcher read six refugee picture books one per week from July 19 to Aug 18, 2022. The results show that the upper category of the children’s reactions in the process of reading the picture books were ‘looking on their own way’ ‘looking at refugees with sympathy’ and ‘looking at the war.’ At the beginning of the process, the children reacted to their experience and imaginations as they saw them however, they started to have sympathy for the refugee"s grief express their good intentions, and understand the existence of the relationship and relations between war and refugees as more reading sessions were processed. Therefore, the use of picture books as a medium for raising the awareness of the importance of peace is suggested so that children understand the lives of refugees better during a time when the number of refugees is increasing because of wars.
