혼합방법론을 활용한 전공과목 피어튜터링 성과 사례연구: 만족도와 프로그램 재참여를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 혼합방법론(mixed method)을 사용하여 전공 피어튜터링 성과(만족도, 재참여)를 확인하고, 프로그램에 참여한 학생들의 참여자 특성과 성과 간 관련성을 파악하여, 추후 유사한 프로그램 운영 시의 개선방안 및 효율성 확보를 위한 제언을 제시함에 있었다. 피어튜터링 프로그램 참여 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사(1, 2단계)를 진행하여 참여자 특성과 성과를 조사하였으며, 질적 방법으로 참여자 인터뷰(3단계)를 수행하였다. 1단계에서 수집된 자료는 기술통계를, 2단계에서는 교차분석 방법을 활용하였다. 3단계에서는 2단계까지 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 심층 인터뷰 문항을 구성하여 인터뷰를 통해 결과를 해석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여 학생들을 대상으로 조사를 시행한 결과, 높은 만족도와 재참여 비율이 확인되어 피어튜터링 프로그램 성과는 상당히 우수한 것으로 파악되었다. 둘째, 피어튜터링 프로그램에 참여한 학생들의 참여자 특성은 성과와는 크게 관련이 없는 것으로 확인되었다. 참여동기의 경우 튜터는 ‘동료 도움’, 튜티는 ‘학업적 성과’가 주된 참여동기였으나 이에 따른 성과 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 피어튜터링 프로그램 참여 학생들은 프로그램을 통해 양적 조사로는 확인하기 어려운 추가적인 다른 형태의 동기가 발생하였음을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 추후 피어튜터링 프로그램 운영과 관련해 현재 진행되고 있는 프로그램 형태는 유지하되, 피어튜터링 진행을 위한 환경 개선, 튜터들의 교수를 지원하는 방향을 지향해야한다는 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to utilize a mixed method to assess the outcomes (satisfaction, re-participation) of major-specific peer tutoring program, to identify the relationship between the characteristics of the participating students and the outcomes, and to provide suggestions for improvements and efficiency in future operations of similar programs. For this purpose, Surveys (phases 1 and 2) were conducted targeting the students who participated in the peer tutoring program to investigate their characteristics and the outcomes, and participant interviews (phase 3) were implemented using qualitative methods. Data collected in phase 1 was analyzed using descriptive statistics, while in phase 2, cross-analysis methods were utilized. In phase 3, in-depth interview questions were developed based on the results derived up to phase 2, and interviews were conducted to interpret the results. The research findings are as follows: First, the investigation of the participating students showed high levels of satisfaction and re-participation rates, indicating that the outcomes of the peer tutoring program were quite excellent. Second, it was confirmed that the characteristics of the students who participated in the peer tutoring program were not significantly related to the outcomes. In terms of participation motivation, tutors were primarily motivated by 'helping peers,' and tutees by 'academic achievement,' but the differences in outcomes according to these motivations were not statistically significant. Third, the additional forms of motivation that were difficult to detect through quantitative surveys was found In this regard, it was suggested that while maintaining the current form of the program, improvements for the environment to conduct peer tutoring and support for the tutors' teaching compentency should be aimed at, providing implications for the future operation of peer tutoring programs.
