실존주의적 관점에서 본 기독교 상담자의 정체성

국문 초록

개인의 가치가 집단이나 국가보다 더 중요한 시대에 살아가고 있다. 더구나 생활의 풍요로움은 이러한 환경을 더 부추긴다. 결국 개인의 자기긍정이 어느 시대보다 부각되는 시기에 있다. 그러나 이러한 풍요로움 속에는 인간이 가진 실존적 상황을 망각케 하는 요인이 있다. 현대에 있어 자기긍정은 자기기만이 될 수 있고, 인간실존에 대한 수용은 기독교 상담자의 정체성을 가지는 데 중요한 요소다. 실존적 입장에서 기독교 상담자의 정체성을 바르게 할 수 있는 세 가지 요소가 있다. 첫째, 수직적 경계는 자기긍정 시대에 자기모순에 빠지는 것을 방지할 수 있다. 수직적 경계를 가지지 않으면 자기는 자기광기에 놓이게 된다. 둘째, 모든 불안은 죽음에서 시작되는데 현대인은 자기긍정의 영웅주의에 빠져 이것을 직면하지 않고 회피함으로 불안을 가중시킨다. 그러므로 용기를 가지고 죽음에 대한 직면과 수용이 필요하다. 셋째는, 시간과 공간의 유한성에 대한 수용이고, 이것들은 집착의 대상이 아니다. 현대는 시간에 대항하여 경주하는 문화와 공간을 소유함으로써 무한성을 가지게 하는 의식이 팽배함으로 상담도 이러한 경향으로 가기가 쉽다. 이런 실존적 관점을 가짐으로 자신을 반추하고 정체성을 새롭게 하는 자세가 필요하다.

영문 초록

We live in societies in which individual values are much more important than collective values. Furthermore the material abundance of life makes us think that individual values are superior to all other values. But such a situation comes us to forget our existential condition. Positive thinking apart from existential considerations about human identity is apt to lead to self–indulgence. But the acceptance of one’s existential situation makes us think of Christian counselor’s identity. There are three existential elements which provide a Christian counselor with identity. First, the “vertical line” can prevent us from to falling to self–indulgence. If we do not put ourselves in the vertical line, we are apt to fall to the profanization of self. Secondly, a lot of anxiety comes from the fear of death, but moderns shuns death instead of confronting it. Thus the more we shun death, the more we feel anxious. Thirdly, time and space are not objects of possession. Most cultures run against time and space. We are try to conquer time by concerning appearance and physical strength. The more spaces we have, the more security we feel. We can overcome times and space in terms of acceptance of them. This is called ‘courage’(Tillich’s term). In terms of these three elements, Christian counselors reflect one’s identity and attitude.
