유치원생의 초기 문해 능력 향상을 위한 동기 기제로서의 상호작용적 전자칠판(Interactive whiteboard)의 활용

국문 초록

문해교육을 위한 교육 매체의 활용은 전국의 교사들과 학교에서 많은 관심을 가지고 있으며, 많은 교사들이 다양한 종류의 교육 매체를 수업에 적용하여 학생들의 성취를 높이고자 노력해 왔다. 이 연구에서는 상호작용적 전자칠판(Interactive whiteboard)의 활용이 유치원 학생들의 초기 문해 능력에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 탐구하고자 하였다. 이 연구에서 독립변인은 상호작용적 전자칠판의 활용이었으며 종속변인들은 글자 및 소리 지식 그리고 음운 및 인쇄 인식으로 각각 해당 검사를 통하여 측정하였다. 24명의 유치원생들을 실험집단과 통제집단에 무작위로 배정한 후 4주간 문해 교육을 실시하였는데, 그동안 실험집단의 학생들은 상호작용적 전자칠판을 활용하여 수업을 진행하였고 통제 집단의 학생들은 전자칠판 없이 교사주도의 수업을 진행하였다. 수업 내용이나, 수업시간, 그리고 교사변인 등 다른 조건들은 두 집단 모두 동일하였다. 비모수통계 방법인 Mann-Whitney U 검사 결과, 상호작용적 전자칠판을 활용한 수업에 참여한 유치원생들이 전자칠판 없이 수업에 참여한 유치원생들에 비하여 글자 및 소리 지식 검사와 음운 및 인쇄 인식 검사 모두 높은 점수를 받았으며 그 차이가 유의미하게 나타났다.

영문 초록

Technology integration in literacy education has been the focus of many teachers and schools across the nation. Teachers try to promote student achievement by integrating different forms of technology into the literacy lessons. The purpose of this study was to examine how using an interactive whiteboard influences Kindergarteners’ early literacy skill achievement. The independent variable in this study was the implementation of interactive whiteboard, and the dependent variables were letter & sound knowledge and phonological & print awareness that were measured using the corresponding tests, respectively. Twenty-four kindergarten students were randomly assigned into either the experimental group or the control group. During the four weeks of literacy instruction, students in the experimental group were given interactive whiteboard integrated lessons while students in the control group were given traditional teacher-led lessons without using an interactive whiteboard. Other conditions such as lesson contents, literacy blocks, and the class teacher were identical between the two groups. The findings of Mann-Whitney U tests showed that kindergarten students in the interactive whiteboard lesson group earned significantly higher scores in both the letter & sound knowledge test and the phonological & print awareness test than those who were taught without using an interactive whiteboard.
