교사의 교수매체 활용 활동체제 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 교사의 교수매체 활용 활동에 대하여 교사 개인변인, 매체변인, 교수학습 환경변인 등 객관적으로 나타난 변인과 변인의 영향력이나 기술결정론적 관점에서 분석한 선행연구에서 벗어나, 교사 행동을 복잡한 문화 역사적 맥락 안에서 환경과 상호작용하는 활동으로 보고 그 안에서 발생하는 모순과 갈등을 활동이론을 중심으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 J도 소재 Y시와 S시의 초등학교와 중학교에 재직 중인 교사를 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과 교사의 교수매체 활용 활동체제는 주체(교사, 학생, 교육부, 학교 관리자), 도구(학교 시설, 교수매체, 예산, 교과내용), 객체(수업활동), 공동체(교육청, 학교, 교사 공동체), 규칙(법, 규정, 교육과정, 학교의 풍토, 암묵적, 명시적 규칙), 분업(교사 간 협업)으로 이루어 졌으며 목표(학습자 중심교육, 수업혁신)를 이루기 위한 활동이 계속적으로 발생하고 있었다. 모순은 주체인 교사세대와 학생세대의 교수매체에 대한 이해의 차이, 첨단으로 발전한 교수매체와 입시위주로 구성되어 변하지 않은 교육내용 간에 발생하였다. 특히 입시위주의 교육과정에서 발생한 모순은 활동체제의 다른 요소들에도 파생적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과가 보여주는 시사점은 교사의 교수매체 활용 활동에 대한 문화역사적인 관점에서의 분석이 사회적 존재로서 집단 활동에 참여하는 교사 개인의 활동에 대한 논리적인 설득력을 가진다는 것이다. 활동에서 발생한 교사 개인과 환경의 상호작용은 문화와 사회로부터 떨어질 수 없고 역사성을 가지며, 도구로 매개되는 인간과 환경 간의 변증법적 관계를 드러내었다.

영문 초록

As a new instructional media is introduced to schools, many expect it to innovate and improve educational situation but it shows low ratings for the practical utilization. Teacher’s instructional media use activity is a socially rooted and historically developed human work. Thus, it needs to be analyzed from the sociocultural perspectives. This study analyzed teacher’s utilization of instructional media through Vygotskian Cultural-Historical Activity Theory. The subjects include 14 teachers in elementary and junior high schools in Y and S cities which locate in J –do province. The contradictions within elements were found in subject, tools, object and outcome. The contradictions between elements were found in four areas; between teachers and students, instructional media and instructional content, the goal of the teachers’ and the Ministry of Education, the teachers and communities. The contradictions found within elements are also discussed in the previous studies. However, the contradictions found between elements explain how cultural-historical understanding of human functioning is important. The interactions between the individual teacher and the environment arising from the activity are inseparable from culture and society, have historicity, and reveal the characteristics of the human mental process mediated by tools. This study is meaningful in that it is to understand human beings in the sociocultural way with a focus on historicity. Moreover, it is good to analyze the mediation of tools and the structure of activities that develop dialectically.
