언어접촉의 관점에서 본 상하이 방언의 상 표지(aspectual markers) 변화 연구

국문 초록

본고는 문법 형식 중에서도 상하이 방언의 상 표지의 변화에 주목하여 이러한 변화를 언어 접촉의 관점에서 설명해 보고자 한다. 문법소는 잘 변하지 않는다고 알려져 있으며 중국어에서 방언의 상표지는 개별 방언의 속성을 잘 드러내는 문법 형식 중 하나이다. 그런데 근대부터 현재까지 상하이 방언의 상 표지의 형식과 용법이 매우 급격하게 변화하였음을 확인하였다. 특히 젊은 세대의 경우 각각의 상 표지가 기능이나 형식 면에서 보통화와 유사한 방향으로 변화하고 있음을 관찰하였다. 본고는 이에 대해 상하이 지역의 언어 사용자 구성의 변화에 따른 언어접촉 양상의 변화에 주목하였다. 즉, 과거 인접한 오방언권 화자들이 주를 이뤘던 상하이 지역이 행정구역의 확대 및 다량의 이민으로 인해 보통화 사용자의 수가 다량으로 증가함에 따라, 보통화와 상하이 방언 간에 빈번한 언어접촉 상황이 발생하고 이것이 상하이 방언의 상 표지에도 영향을 미치고 있다는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is 1) to identify the changes which the aspectual markers of the Shanghai dialect experienced since the modern era and 2) to describe the factors of these changes in terms of language contact. it is known that grammatical markers change slowly and also that Chinese aspect markers contain distinctive characteristics of each dialect. However, in the case of Shanghai dialect, it was confirmed that the changes in the aspect markers occurred at a very high speed. Especially, the forms and the usage which the young people in their 20s and 30s use is very much similar to those of Putonghua. This study argues that the phenomenon is a reuslt of changes in the composition of language population. Since the number of Putonghua users occupies the largest portion of the language population in Shanghai, the language contact between Putonghua and Shanghai dialect will continue to increase. Therefore, it is expected that the dialect levelling of the aspect markers in Shanghai dialect to Putonghua will proceed more rapidly.
