국문 초록

본 연구는 ‘법을 통한 선교’의 개념을 정의하고 실천적 모델을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 신학적 관점에서 선교를 고찰하고, 하나님의 선교(Missio Dei)와 교회의 선교(Missio Ecclesiae)의 차이를 분석하였다. 또한, 성경이 제시하는 법의 의미를 종말론적 관점에서 조명하여, 법은 신적 공의와 최후의 심판을 드러내는 도구로서 기능한다고 주장한다. 법은 궁극적 구원의 대상이 아니나, 신적 공의에 반하는 경우 기독 법조인은 진리를 담대히 선포하여 공의를 구현해야 한다. 이를 바탕으로 ‘법을 통한 선교’를 ‘Missio Dei에 따라 법을 통해 하나님의 공의와 자비를 실현하고, Missio Ecclesiae에 따라 법률 전문성을 복음 전파의 수단으로 삼아 하나님 나라를 확장해 나가는 사역’으로 정의한다. 본 논문은 법을 통한 선교가 국경을 넘어 타문화권 선교에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 사도 바울의 예와 식민시대 법을 통한 선교를 역사적 사례로 검토하고, 현대 사례로 다음을 분석하였다. 첫째, 소송과 직접 구조 사역을 통해 활동하는 ADF, ACLJ, IJM의 사례를 분석하였다. 둘째, 글로벌 기독 변호사 네트워크의 현황과 역할을 검토하였다. 셋째, 기독 로스쿨(Regent, 한동국제법률대학원, UPH)을 법을 통한 선교 모델로 평가하였다. 마지막으로, 기독 로펌을 통한 해외 선교의 가능성을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to define the concept of ‘Christian mission through law’ and propose practical models for its implementation. To this end, it examines Christian mission from a theological perspective, analyzing the distinctions between Missio Dei (God’s mission) and Missio Ecclesiae (the mission of the church). Furthermore, it explores the biblical significance of law from an eschatological perspective, arguing that law serves as an instrument for manifesting divine justice and the final judgment. While law is not the ultimate object of salvation, Christian legal professionals are called to boldly proclaim truth and uphold justice when law contradicts divine justice. Building on this, Christian mission through law is a ministry that realizes God's justice and mercy through the law in accordance with Missio Dei, and, following Missio Ecclesiae, utilizes legal expertise as a means of spreading the gospel to expand the Kingdom of God. This study explores how Christian mission through law can contribute to cross-cultural mission beyond national borders. To this end, it examines the example of the Apostle Paul and mission through law during the colonial era as a historical case study and analyzes the following contemporary examples. First, it analyzes the activities of ADF, ACLJ, and IJM, which engage in litigation and direct rescue ministries. Second, it examines the current state and role of global Christian lawyer networks. Third, it evaluates Christian law schools (Regent, Handong International Law School, UPH) as models for Christian mission through law. Finally, it discusses the potential of Christian law firms for overseas mission.
