국문 초록

이 연구는 한 탈북여성의 지속적 학습 경험이 정체성 재구성에 미치는 영향의 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 내러티브 탐구를 채택하여 시간성, 사회성, 장소성의 3차원 분석틀로 학습 경험을 분석하였으며, 총 3회의 심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 참여자는 탈북 후 10년간 대학과 대학원을 거쳐 상담사로 성장한 50대 여성으로, 현재 탈북민 전문상담사로 활동하고 있다. 연구 결과 세 가지 핵심 주제가 도출되었다. 첫째 '자기 인식의 여정'에서는 대학 진학 갈망, 자기 이해의 깨달음, 역할적 존재에서 진정한 자아로의 전환이 나타났다. 둘째, '삶으로 피어나는 배움'에서는 상담적 관점 내재화, 학습공동체 소속감, 자신감 획득이 확인되었다. 셋째, '받는 자리에서 주는 자리로'에서는 나이 편견 극복, 상처받은 치유자로의 성장, 통일 사명감 형성이 드러났다. 이 연구는 성인학습 이론과 배움학을 결합하여 삶의 상처에서 학습을 통한 성장으로의 전환 과정을 실증적으로 규명하였다. 또한 개인적 학습이 사회적 변화의 동력이 됨을 확인하여 성인학습자와 이민자 정책에 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore how the sustained learning experience of a North Korean female defector influences identity reconstruction. Narrative inquiry was adopted to analyze learning experiences through a three-dimensional framework of temporality, sociality, and place, with data collected through three in-depth interviews. The participant is a woman in her 50s who became a counselor through university and graduate studies over 10 years after defecting, currently working as a professional counselor for North Korean defectors. Three core themes emerged. First, “Journey of Self-Awareness” revealed university admission aspirations, self-understanding awakening, and transformation from role-based existence to authentic self. Second, “Learning Blossoming into Life” confirmed internalization of counseling perspectives, learning community belonging, and confidence acquisition. Third, “From Receiving to Giving” demonstrated overcoming age prejudice, growth as a wounded healer, and formation of unification mission. This study empirically identified the transformation process from life wounds to growth through learning by combining adult learning theory and learning studies. It confirmed that individual learning becomes a driving force for social change, providing implications for adult learners and immigrant policies.
