국문 초록

1010년 완성된 페르시아의 서사시 「샤나메」( Shāhnāme)는 이슬람 초기 작품이지만 오랜 세월 축적된 고대 인도-아리안족의 신화와 고대 페르시아의 종교들을 바탕으로 집필되었다. 때문에 고대 페르시아의 사상과 철학이 담겨있다. 그중 하나가 조로아스터교의 사상이다. 인류 최초의 계시 종교인 조로아스터교는 사산 왕조(Sassanid AD 224-651) 시기 국교로 공표되면서 교세를 크게 확장했지만, 특유의 난해한 교리로 오늘날 소수종교로 남게 되었다. 하지만 그 사상과 문화는 경전들을 통해 현재까지 이어지고 있다. 대표적인 것이 이원론이다. 우주를 지탱하는 상반된 두 힘을 설명하는 이원론은 문학, 철학, 미술 등 다양한 분야에 영향을 주었다. 페르시아의 민족문학인 「샤나메」 역시 다양한 이야기 속에 이원론이 담겨있다. 본 연구는 「샤나메」 중 가장 잘 알려진 ‘잠쉬드 이야기’ 와 ‘자학 이야기’ 속 이원론을 중심으로 연구한다.

영문 초록

The Persian epic 「Shahname」, composed in 1010, is known as an early Islamic work, yet it is deeply rooted in ancient Persian ideas and philosophies, writing upon the myths of the ancient Indo-Aryan peoples and the long-standing religions of ancient Persia. An appreciable concept within this context is Zoroastrianism. As the first revealed religion of humanity, Zoroastrianism gained considerable influence when it became the state religion during the Sassanid Dynasty (AD 224-651). However, its complex doctrines have led to its status as a minority religion in the modern era. Nevertheless, its cultural and ideological legacy is leading to the present within its scriptures. One prominent theme is dualism, which articulates the existence of two opposing forces that sustain the universe and has had a profound impact across various domains, including literature, philosophy, and art. The 「Shahname」 itself incorporates dualism in several related stories. This study focuses on exploring dualism within two of the epic's most renowned tales: ‘The Story of Jamshid’ and ‘The Story of Zahhak’.
