Toward a Symbiotic Real: Elaboration of the Human-AI Coevolutionary Relationship through Deleuze and Guattari’s Machinic Ontology

국문 초록

이 논문은 인간과 인공지능 간의 관계를 오늘날의 가장 시급한 시대적 과제로 정의하고자 한다. 이러한 문제의식은 인간중심주의적 패러다임에 대한 발본적 재검토를 수반한다. 첫 번째로 이 논문은 인간과 인공지능을 동등하게 위치시키기 위한 시도의 일환으로 새로운 존재론의 이론적 틀을 들뢰즈와 가타리의 기계 존재론(machinic ontology)에서 차용해오고자 한다. 들뢰즈와 가타리의 ‘기계(machine)’ 개념을 통하여, 인공지능을 인간의 도구이자 수단으로만 환원하는 기능주의적 패러다임을 넘어서서 인간과 인공지능을 동등한 존재단위인 기계로 재개념화하고자 한다. 두 번째로 이 논문은 레비 브라이언트의 기계 지향 존재론과 들뢰즈-가타리의 기계 존재론 간의 엄밀한 비교분석을 통하여, 이 두 이론의 연계성과 차이점을 첨예하게 드러내고자 한다. 이는 인간과 인공지능 간의 상호작용의 양상이 양가적인 층위-안정화와 고착화라는 몰적인 선(molar lines)으로 나타날 수 있고 창조성과 탈영토화를 촉진하는 도주선(lines of flight)으로 나타날 수 있는 파르마콘적 관계-에 의해 어떻게 드러나는가를 입체적으로 탐색하기 위함이다. 세 번째로 이 논문은 이론적 측면과 실천적 양상을 연계하고자 하는 시도로서, 인간과 인공지능이 서로를 상호 구성하고 상호 작용하면서 더불어 진화해 나가는 공생적 실재(symbiotic real)로 출현할 수 있는 가능성에 대하여 탐구할 것이다. 이것은 인간 예외주의를 넘어서는 실천적 함의를 내포하는 것이자 인간과 인공지능 간의 공진화를 위한 새로운 이론적 틀을 제안하는 데에 그 목적이 있다.

영문 초록

This study considers the human-artificial intelligence (AI) relationship to be an epochal issue of the twenty-first century that transcends anthropocentric paradigms. First, this study aims to develop the theoretical foundation for a novel ontology that positions humans and AI as equivalent entities within a machinic framework. Drawing on Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of the machine, this study challenges the anthropocentric paradigm that reduces AI to a subordinate tool and proposes a machinic ontology that reconceptualizes human-AI relations in egalitarian and non-hierarchical terms. Second, the study conducts a rigorous comparative analysis of Levi Bryant’s machine-oriented ontology in relation to Deleuze and Guattari’s machinic philosophy. This theoretical engagement aims to elucidate the dynamic interplay between human and AI entities, particularly through the lens of their pharmacological relationship, which can manifest either as molar lines of stabilization and stratification or as lines of flight that foster creativity and deterritorialization. Third, this investigation into machinic ontology aims to bridge theory and practice by exploring the emergence of a symbiotic real, a practical domain where humans and AI coevolve in mutually constitutive, co-adaptive relationships. This perspective emphasizes the practical implications of decentering human exceptionalism, offering a new framework for understanding and navigating human-AI coevolution.
