국문 초록

The central objective of Syntactic Cartography is to systematically elucidate the distributional mapping of specific syntactic constituents within hierarchical structures. Rooted in the Principles and Parameters Theory, this theoretical paradigm focuses on the linear ordering of functional categories across phrasal hierarchies in natural language. It has developed into a multifaceted research program encompassing the left periphery, IP-domain functional architecture, nominal phrase-internal layering, word-formation, and Nanosyntax. While current Syntactic Cartography faces critiques regarding theoretical coherence and methodological implementation validity, its explanatory power and generative productivity have provided innovative methodologies for the microanalysis of linguistic hierarchies. These advancements have driven the theory toward sustained evolution through the refinement of syntactic hierarchical granularity.
