국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 최근 교육 연구에서 신유물론의 전개를 파악하고 이를 평가하는 것이다. 기후재난과 디지털 기술의 발전은 신유물론을 추동해 왔다. 신유물론적 교육 연구에서도 시맨틱 웹기술, 디지털 사진 등을 활용한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 경향은 기존에 소외되고 배제된 비인간 행위자의 의미와 가치를 되돌아보게 한다. 그러나 신유물론은 철학적, 정치적 비판에 직면해 있다. 우리가 사물과 맺는 배치를 자유롭게 바꿀 수 있다는 발상은 사물을 우리의 이해관계에 따라 마음대로 취급할 수 있다는 의미로도 해석된다. 이는 정치적으로는 역사적 주체로서의 인간을 외면하고, 물질의 매력과 자본주의적 상품의 매력을 동등하게 바라보는 효과를 낳는다. 결국 신유물론은 인간을 물질에 종속시키는 위험을 낳을 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 신유물론적 교육 연구는 근대교육의 전환을 위한 언어를 제공해 주고, 사실의 문제에서 관심사의 문제로 우리를 이끌어 줌으로써 교육 연구에서 실천적 교육학과 교육과학의 분리를 극복할 가능성을 연다. 신유물론적 교육 연구는 반성적 행위자를 중심에 두는 전통적 교육 연구를 어떻게 갱신할 것인가라는 과제를 떠안고 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify and evaluate the development of new materialism in recent educational research. The development of climate disasters and digital technologies has driven new materialism. Research using semantic web technology and digital photography is also increasing in new materialistic educational research. This trend leads to a reflection on the meaning and value of non-human agency, which has been marginalized and excluded. However, new materialism is facing philosophical and political criticism. The idea that we can freely change the relationship we have with objects is also interpreted as meaning that we can treat objects as we please according to our interests. Politically, this results in ignoring humans as historical subjects and viewing the attractiveness of matter and capitalist products equally. Eventually, new materialism can create the risk of subordinating humans to matter. Nevertheless, new materialistic educational research helps overcome the separation between practical pedagogy and educational science in educational research by providing a language for the transition of modern education and leading us from the problem of facts to the problem of interest. New materialistic educational research is taking on the task updating traditional educational research centered on reflective agency.
