영화 <네 마음에 새겨진 이름>의 탈규범적 서사에 관한 일고찰

국문 초록

본 고에서는 타이완 영화 ＜네 마음에 새겨진 이름＞(2020)의 성 소수자 재현 고찰을 통해 영화가 지향하는 바와 퀴어 서사를 둘러싼 쟁점들에 대해 살펴보았다. 최근 들어 성 소수자의 성정체성과 인권 문제에 관한 논의가 활발히 제기되고 있고 매체들은 앞을 다투어 그들의 현실에 관해 이야기하고 있지만 과연 어떻게 말하는 것이 올바른 것인지에 대한 문제 제기는 부족한 실정이다. 영화 ＜네 마음에 새겨진 이름＞은 성장기 소년들이 자신들의 젠더 비순응적 섹슈얼리티를 깨닫는 과정과 성 소수자로서 마주할 수밖에 없었던 갈등과 해소 양상을 그린다. 영화 속의 자한과 버디는 자기의 성적 취향을 인식하고 사회로부터 배제당할 것을 두려워한다. 그렇지만 막연한 공포에서 탈피해 나와 같은 상대의 처지를 이해하고 돌보아 나가며 퀴어 주체로 성장하게 된다. 돌봄의 순간으로 집적한 시간성과 친밀한 ‘관계적’ 정치성의 구현한 이 영화는 이성애 중심주의와 소수자의 엄중한 현실을 비판하고, 저항의 관점에서 텍스트를 재구성해야 한다는 동성애 재현 근본주의와 퀴어 윤리학을 전복시킨다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

In this study, we looked at the film’s aims and the issues surrounding the queer narrative through an examination of the representation of sexual minorities in the Taiwanese film Your Name Engraved Herein(2020). Recently, discussions on the sexual identity and human rights issues of sexual minorities have been actively raised, and the media is racing to talk about their reality, but there is a lack of raising the question of how to speak properly. The film Your Name Engraved Herein depicts the process in which boys in their growing years realize their gender nonconforming sexuality and the conflicts and resolutions they inevitably face as a sexual minority. Jahan and Buddy in the film become aware of their sexual preferences and fear being ostracized by society. However, by escaping vague fear and understanding and caring for the situation of others like me, I grow as a queer subject. This film, which embodies the temporality and intimate ‘relational’ politics accumulated through moments of care, is significant in that it criticizes heterocentrism and the harsh reality of minorities, and overturns the fundamentalism of homosexual representation and queer ethics that call for reconstructing texts from the perspective of resistance.
