국문 초록

이 글은 칸트의 초월 개념을 발전적으로 수용하여 현대 스콜라철학에 적용함으로써 칸트의 초월철학이 가진 한계를 극복하고, 이를 통해 전통 형이상학을 새롭게 재건하고자 한 코레트의 초월론적 사유의 중심 개념인 ‘초월’의 의미를 탐구한다. 코레트의 초월론적 사유는 그의 형이상학, 철학적 인간학, 해석학의 배경을 이룬다. 이 글은 코레트의 형이상학, 철학적 인간학, 해석학 안에 나타난 초월의 다양한 의미를 구명하고, 그 현대적 의의를 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 코레트의 철학적 사유의 기반이 되는 초월 개념은 다양한 의미를 함축하고 있다. 초월은 우선 형이상학적으로 경험의 경계를 넘어서는 모든 것의 근거가 되는 절대적인 초월적 존재를 지시하며, 철학적 인간학적으로는 자유에 기반한 자기규정의 넘어섬이요, 세계 개방성을 의미한다. 그리고 해석학적으로 우리의 경험의 모든 내용이 거기서 이해되고 해명되는 이해 지평으로서 절대적이며 초월적인 의미 근거를 뜻한다. 초월의 핵심은 세계 내에 작용하면서 이를 넘어서 있는 궁극적이며 절대적이며 최종적인 근거가 존재한다는 것이요, 그것이 인간 사유의 선험적 조건임과 동시에 인간은 이런 형이상학적인 최종 근거와 관계하면서 자기의 구체적인 경험의 의미를 ‘의미 전체’ 안에서 포착하고 이해하고 해명한다는 데 있다. 또한 이 전체 의미 연관 안에서 인간이 끊임없이 자기규정을 넘어선다는 데 있다. 그리고 무엇보다도 우리의 이해가 수행되는 절대적인 지평이 바로 존재 자체라는 사실이다.

영문 초록

This paper explores the meaning of “transcendence”, a central concept in Coreth’s transcendental thought, by progressively incorporating Kant’s transcendental concepts and applying them to modern Scholastic philosophy. Through this approach, it aims to overcome the limitations of Kant’s transcendental philosophy and reconstruct traditional metaphysics in a new way. Coreth’s transcendental thought serves as the basis for his metaphysics, philosophical anthropology, and hermeneutics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the various meanings of transcendence as they appear in Coreth’s metaphysics, philosophical anthropology, and hermeneutics, and to examine its contemporary significance.The concept of transcendence, which serves as the basis for Coreth’s philosophical thought, carries multiple implications. Metaphysically, transcendence refers to the absolute transcendent being that serves as the foundation beyond the boundaries of experience. In philosophical anthropology, it signifies the surpassing of self-determination based on freedom and the openness to the world. Hermeneutically, it denotes the absolute and transcendent source of meaning, functioning as the interpretative horizon within which all experiences are understood and explained. At its core, transcendence asserts that while an ultimate, absolute, and final foundation operates within the world, it simultaneously transcends it. This foundation serves as both the a priori condition of human thought and the basis through which individuals relate to this metaphysical ultimate, capturing, understanding, and interpreting the meaning of their concrete experiences within the “totality of meaning.” Furthermore, within this totality of meaning, human beings continually transcend their own self-determination. Most importantly, it emphasizes that existence itself constitutes the absolute horizon within which our understanding unfolds.
