국문 초록

본 연구는 다원주의적 관점에서 현대도예의 조형적인 변화를 분석하고, 전통적인 도자의 개념을 넘어 새로운 조형 언어를 구축하고 탐색하는 방식에 대해 논하는 데 목적이 있다. 현대예술은 단일한 규범과 형식으로부터 벗어나 다양한 가치와 표현 방식을 실험하는 경향으로 변화되고 있다. 이러한 예술 흐름 속에서 현대도예 역시 기능성과 장식성의 한계를 넘어 심미적인 탐구를 중심으로 발전하고 있다. 본 연구는 문헌 연구와 사례 분석을 통해 다원주의적인 관점이 야기하고 있는 조형적 변화의 철학적 토대와 경향을 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 다원주의적 경향이 나타나는 방식은 크게 세 가지로 정리할 수 있었다. 첫째, 전통적인 재료와 기법의 해체 및 재구성을 통한 조형 언어의 확장이 이루어지고 있다는 점이다. 둘째, 도예가 단순한 조형적 오브제에서 벗어나 개념적이고 철학적인 가치를 매개하는 역할을 수행하게 되었다는 점이다. 셋째, 다양한 혼합매체 및 디지털 기술의 활용으로 조형성과 공간에 대한 재해석이 이루어지고 있다는 점이다. 현대도예에서 일어나고 있는 다원주의적 변화 양상은 도예와 조각의 경계를 모호하게 만들며, 공예의 범주를 넘어 도예가 순수조형예술의 영역으로 확장되는 데 기여한다. 본 연구는 현대도예의 조형 변화를 체계적으로 분석하여 현대도예의 정체성의 토대를 정초하고 변화의 궤적을 추적하여 향후 발전 방향을 탐색하는 데 의의를 둔다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the formative changes in contemporary ceramics from a pluralistic perspective and to examine how contemporary ceramics deviate from the traditional concept of pottery to establish and explore new formative languages. Contemporary art has shifted away from singular norms and forms, embracing diverse values and experimental approaches to artistic expression. Within this artistic trend, contemporary ceramics have also evolved beyond the limitations of functionality and ornamentation, focusing on aesthetic exploration. Through a review of literature and case studies, this study investigates the philosophical foundations and tendencies of formative changes driven by pluralistic perspectives. These tendencies can be categorized into three main aspects. First, there is an expansion of formative language through the deconstruction and reconfiguration of traditional materials and techniques. Second, ceramics have moved beyond being mere sculptural objects to serve as mediums for conceptual and philosophical discourse. Third, the adoption of various mixed media and digital technologies has led to a reinterpretation of form and space. The pluralistic transformations occurring in contemporary ceramics obscure the boundaries between ceramics and sculpture, enabling ceramics to transcend the limitations of craft and integrate into the realm of pure formative art. By systematically analyzing these formative changes, this study seeks to establish a foundation for the identity of contemporary ceramics, trace its trajectory of transformation, and explore potential directions for its future development.
