국문 초록

본 연구는 현대 사회에서 키덜트(Kidult) 문화가 확산된 배경과 현대 도예에서 나타나는 키덜트적 표현 방식을 탐구한다. 먼저, 키덜트 문화의 개념과 발생 원인을 다원주의, 문화 소비, 복고 현상, 차별화 현상 등의 요인과 함께 분석하였다. 이후 현대 도예에서 키덜트적 요소를 반영한 작품을 메모리즘(Memorism), 판타즘(Fantasm), 큐티즘(Cutiesm) 세 가지 유형으로 분류하여 연구하였다. 신이철, 브렛 커인, 조아킴 오자닌, 하야시 시게키, 쉐쉬안, 나라 요시토모 등의 사례를 통해 도예에서 키덜트 표현이 어떻게 구현되는지를 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 키덜트 문화가 도예 창작에서 복고적 향수, 상상력, 귀여움의 가치를 통해 정체성 탐색과 심리적 위안의 수단으로 작용함을 논의하였다. 본 연구는 키덜트 문화가 현대 도예의 조형 언어를 확장하고 예술적 흐름으로 자리 잡을 가능성을 고찰하며, 도예에서의 감정적 표현과 문화적 융합의 의미를 재조명하는 데 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the socio-cultural context surrounding the expansion of Kidult culture in contemporary society and examines its modes of expression in modern ceramics. The research begins by analyzing the concept and origins of Kidult culture in relation to key socio-cultural factors such as pluralism, cultural consumption, retro aesthetics, and the phenomenon of identity differentiation. It then classifies Kidult-inspired ceramic works into three typologies—Memorism, Fantasm, and Cutiesm—to explore their characteristics and aesthetic implications. Through case studies of artists including Shin I-cheol, Brett Kern, Joakim Ojanen, Shigeki Hayashi, Xue Xuan, and Yoshitomo Nara, the study elucidates how Kidult expression is materialized in contemporary ceramic practices. The findings suggest that Kidult culture, with its emphasis on nostalgia, imagination, and cuteness, serves as a meaningful medium for psychological comfort and identity exploration. Ultimately, this research highlights the potential of Kidult culture to expand the visual language of ceramics and emerge as a significant trend within contemporary art, while redefining the role of ceramics as a medium for emotional and cultural integration.
