국문 초록

본 연구는 중학교 2학년, 피타고라스 정리를 가르치는 수업에서 교사의 교수 의도와 학생의 실제 학습 경험 간의 괴리를 분석하고, 그 교육적 시사점을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 세 명의 수학 교사와 두 명의 수학교육 전공 연구자가 참여한 교사 연구 공동체에서 설계된 기하적 증명 과제를 실제 수업에 적용하고, 학생들의 활동지, 교실 관찰, 교사 간 논의 자료를 수집·분석하였다. 분석 결과, 학생들은 회전이나 등적변환을 활용하여 도형을 조작하고 탐색하는 데에는 적극적이었으나, 각 단계의 논리적 정당화를 구성하는 데에는 어려움을 겪었다. 이는 학생들이 증명의 절차를 따라가는 데 그치지 않고, 증명의 구조와 수학적 의미를 이해할 수 있도록 교수 설계를 정교화할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 특히, 유클리드식 기하적 증명의 교수학적 가치를 재조명하고, 이를 학생의 인지 수준에 맞게 조작가능하고 의미 있는 방식으로 재구성할 수 있는 전략이 필요함을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the gap between teachers’ instructional intentions and students’ actual learning experiences during a geometry lesson on the Pythagorean theorem in a Korean middle school. Within a teacher-researcher community consisting of three mathematics teachers and two mathematics education researchers, a task based on geometric proof was designed and implemented in a real classroom. Data were collected through student worksheets, classroom observations, and teacher discussions. The analysis revealed that while students actively engaged in exploring and manipulating shapes using rotations and area-preserving transformations, they struggled to construct logical justifications for each step of the proof. These findings suggest the need for refined instructional design that helps students understand not only the procedures of proof but also its underlying mathematical structures and meanings. The study highlights the educational value of Euclid’s geometric proof and emphasizes the importance of making such proofs accessible through intuitive and developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
