국문 초록

그리스도교 전통에서 ‘식별’은 주로 영성적(영적 식별)인 차원과 성소적(성소 식별)인 차원에서 다루어져 왔다. 그러나 이러한 두 영역에만 국한되지 않고, ‘식별’은 그리스도인이 일상생활에서 선택하고 결정하는 데에도 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 그리스도인은 자신의 행위를 통해 선을 지향하며, 윤리적으로 더 성숙한 존재로 변화하기 위한 방법으로 ‘식별’을 제시할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 인간적 행위와 밀접하게 연관된 식별의 윤리적인 의미를 고찰하고자 한다. 식별은 삶 속에서 선과 악, 참과 거짓, 바름과 그릇됨, 아름다움과 추함을 분별하고 이를 실천하는 데 의미를 둔다. 이러한 의미는 윤리적 차원과 밀접하게 연결되어 있으며, 따라서 윤리적 식별은 선을 실행하고 악을 피하기 위해 현실을 판단하고 검토하는 능력을 의미한다. 보다 나은 삶을 살기 위해 그리스도인은 윤리적 식별에 관심을 기울이며, 이 능력을 향상시키는 것이 필요하다. 그리스도인의 윤리적 식별은 매우 중요하고 필수적이지만 이를 방해하는 요소와 돕는 요소가 존재한다. 윤리적 식별을 방해하는 요소로는 그리스도인 자신의 불완전한 본성에서 비롯된 현실 인식의 부족함, 삶의 의미와 방향성을 잃게 만드는 현실의 복잡성, 그리고 개인의 죄로 인한 결과를 들 수 있다. 반대로 윤리적 식별을 돕는 요소들로는 성령의 도움, 사랑, 그리고 양심을 들 수 있다. 그리스도인이 자신의 삶 속에서 선을 선택하고 이를 실천하기 위해 윤리적 식별은 매우 중요하고 필수적인 요소이다. 이를 위해 윤리적 식별을 방해하는 요소와 돕는 요소를 신중하게 이해할 때, 그리스도인 자신뿐만 아니라 이웃과 사회를 포함한 모든 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 나아가 하느님과 이웃을 향한 사랑과 책임의 길로 나아가는 데 기여할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In the Christian tradition, ‘discernment’ has been discussed mainly in a spiritual and vocational level. However, its impact is not limited to these two areas, discernment also plays an important role in the choices and decisions that Christians make in their daily lives. Therefore, Christians can use ‘discernment’ as a way to become more ethically mature beings who aim for the good through their actions. This study examines the ethical implications of discernment as it relates to human behavior. Discernment means knowing the difference between the good and evil, true and false, right and wrong, beauty and ugliness in life, and act accordingly. Its meaning is closely connected with the ethical dimension; thus, ethical discernment means the ability to judge and examine reality in order to do good and avoid evil. In order to live a better life, Christians need to pay attention to and work on ethical discernment. Although Christian ethical discernment is crucial and essential, there are factors that hinder it and those that help. Factors that hinder ethical discernment include a Christian’s lack of awareness of reality, which stems from his or her own imperfect nature, the complexity of reality that causes life to lose meaning and direction, and the consequence of sin. Conversely, factors that aid in ethical discernment include the help of the Holy Spirit, love, and conscience. Ethical discernment is crucial and essential for Christians when choosing and practicing the good in life. A careful understanding of the factors that hinder or help ethical discernment can have a positive impact on all aspects of life, including the life of his or her neighbors, and society. It can also contribute to finding a path of love and responsibility towards God and neighbor.
