龍巖 朴雲의 『衛生方』에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문은 조선 중기의 유학자이자 신유교 사상가인 용암 박운(1493~1562)의 의학적 공헌을 살펴보며, 특히 그의 저서 『위생방(威生方)』에 초점을 맞추었다. 전통적으로 박운에 대한 연구는 그의 학문적 업적과 한국 철학에 미친 영향을 강조해 왔지만, 그의 의학적 저술에는 거의 관심을 기울이지 않았다. 이 연구는 최근 『용암선생문집』에서 발견된 『위생방』의 서문을 조사하여 그 간극을 메우고자 하며, 이를 통해 박운의 의학적 사상 참여에 대한 보다 포괄적인 분석을 가능하게 한다. 이 연구는 박운의 건강에 대한 전체론적 관점을 논의하는데, 그는 질병이 단순히 타고난 약점 때문만은 아니라 생활 방식 불균형, 환경 요인, 음식, 음료, 성 활동에 대한 과도한 탐닉에서 비롯된다고 주장한다. 따라서 그의 의학 철학은 규율과 자제력을 통해 생명을 키우는 것과 치유력에 따라 분류된 약초의 신중한 사용을 강조한다. 이 논문은 또한 『위생방』의 역사적 맥락을 탐구하여 『향약집성방』과 『의방유취』와 같은 당시의 다른 의학서적과 함께 『위생방』의 의미를 설명하였다. 『위생방』은 현존하지는 않지만 이 연구 자료는 『위생방』의 내용을 추론하여 재구성하고 한국 의학 사상에 대한 박운의 독특한 기여에 대한 자세한 탐구를 제공한다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 박운의 위생방이 조선 중기 한국의 양생에 대한 개념과 철학에 대한 귀중한 통찰력을 제공한다는 것을 보여줍니다. 이 서적은 양생에 대한 박운의 견해를 드러내고 박운이 유교적 윤리와 의학적 지식을 통합한 인물입을 나타내고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the medical contributions of Yongam Park Un (1493-1562), a Confucian scholar and neo-Confucian philosopher of the mid-Joseon period, focusing particularly on his book Wisengbang (威生方). Traditionally, research on Park Un has emphasized his scholarly achievements and his influence on Korean philosophy, but little attention has been paid to his medical writings. This study attempts to fill this gap by examining the preface to Wisengbang, recently discovered in the Yongamseonsengmunjip, thereby enabling a more comprehensive analysis of Park Un’s engagement with medical thought. This study discusses Park Un’s holistic view of health, which argues that illness is not simply due to innate weaknesses, but rather to imbalanced lifestyles, environmental factors, and excessive indulgence in food, drink, and sexual activity. His medical philosophy thus emphasizes nurturing life through discipline and self-control, as well as the prudent use of herbs classified by their healing properties. This paper also explores the historical context of Wisengbang and explains its significance in conjunction with other medical books of the time, such as Hyangyakjipseongbang and Euibangyuchwi. Although Wisengbang is no longer extant, this study reconstructs its contents through inference and provides a detailed exploration of Park Un’s unique contribution to Korean medical thought. In conclusion, this study shows that Park Un’s Wisengbang provides valuable insight into the concept and philosophy of health and well-being in mid-Joseon Korea. The book reveals Park Un’s views on health and demonstrates Park Un’s integration of Confucian ethics and medical knowledge.
