국문 초록

루소의 교육사상은 18세기 프랑스 유물론, 특히 루소와 대립하던 엘베시우스와 같은 유물론적 사상에 대한 비판과 종합이다. 그 결정적인 산물 가운데 하나가 루소의 판단 이론과 판단력 교육에서 드러나고 있다. 엘베시우스는 사고와 정신 기능을 감각으로 환원시키는 인식론을 제시한다. 그에게 '판단하는 것'은 '느끼는 것'은 다르지 않은 것이다. 반면에 루소에게 '판단하는 것'은 관계를 인식하는 것을 의미한다. 판단이라는 개념에서 암시하듯이, 루소의 교육 이론은 '이성' 발달에 따라 전개되고 있다. 루소의 판단력 교육의 교육적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 판단력 교육은 이성 교육과 감성 교육 모두를 고려한 교육이다. 둘째, 판단력 교육은 양심의 발현을 준비하는 교육이다. 셋째, 루소의 소극적 교육은 판단력 교육에 기반을 둘 때 보다 논리적으로 잘 해석될 수 있다. 넷째, 판단력 교육에는 경험이 요구되며, 경험에서의 실수는 더 나은 판단을 향해 나아가는 과정의 산물로서 긍정적으로 수용된다. 마지막으로 루소의 판단력 교육은 학생들이 스스로 판단을 내리고, 타인의 의견에 휩쓸리지 않는 독립적인 인간으로 성장할 수 있도록 하는 교육이다.

영문 초록

Rousseau's educational thought is a criticism and synthesis of 18th century French materialism, especially materialist ideas such as Helvétius, which opposed Rousseau. One of the crucial products is revealed in Rousseau's judgment theory and judgment education. Helvétius presented an epistemology that reduced thinking and mental functions to the senses. To him, ‘to judge’ is no different from ‘to feel’. On the other hand, for Rousseau, ‘to judge’ is to perceive relationships. As implied by the concept of judgment, Rousseau's educational theory unfolds according to the development of ‘reason’. The educational implications of Rousseau’s judgment education are as follows. First, judgment education is education that takes into account both rational education and emotional education. Second, judgment education is education to prepare for the exercise of conscience. Third, Rousseau’s passive education can also be interpreted more logically when based on judgment education. Fourth, judgment education requires experience, and mistakes in experience are accepted positively as a product of the process of moving toward better judgment. Finally, Rousseau's judgment education is an education that allows students to make their own judgments and grow into independent human beings who are not bound by the opinions of others.
