국문 초록

경합에서 경기자들은 자원을 투입하여 상을 얻기 위해 경쟁한다. 이때 각 경기자는 자신뿐 아니라 경쟁자의 보수에도 관심을 가질 수 있으며, 이는 상호의존적 선호(interdependent preferences)로 나타날 수 있다. 기존 문헌은 배분에 따른 상호의존적 선호의 변화를 주로 다루어 왔다. 먼저, 본 연구는 기존 문헌에서 유도된 자원 배분과 상호의존적 선호 변화의 관계를 정리하고자 한다. 기존 문헌의 공통된 가정은 경합에 자원을 투입할 수 있는 수단이 유일하며, 그 유일한 수단을 통해 경쟁이 이루어진다는 것이다. 그러나 본 연구는 경합에 필요한 자원의 투입이 다양한 경로를 가질 수 있으며, 이러한 보조수단을 이용한 다양한 자원의 배분이 상호의존적 선호에 어떤 변화를 초래할 수 있는지를 분석한다. 본 연구는 이러한 다양한 자원의 배분을 고려하더라도, 경합 참가자들의 순수 이기심은 변하지 않다는 것을 보여준다.

영문 초록

In a contest, participants invest resources to compete for rewards. During this process, each participant may be concerned not only with their own payoffs but also with the payoffs of their competitors. In other words, in a contested situation, each participants can exhibit interdependent preferences. Existing literature has primarily focused on how interdependent preferences change based on resource allocation. First, this study summarizes the relationship between resource allocation and changes in interdependent preferences as derived from the existing literature. A common assumption in the literature is that the resources required for contests are unique, and that the contest is conducted solely through the allocation of these resources. This study examines whether the input of resources necessary for contests can take various forms and whether the allocation of these diverse resources, using alternative instruments, can lead to changes in interdependent preferences. The study demonstrates that, even when considering various resource allocations, participants' pure self-interest remains unchanged.
