영문 초록

Today, Chinese call themselves as the “Joongwha nation” and designate their culture as the “Joongwha culture.” In this way, they try to find out the characteristic of their nation and culture in “Joongwha ideology.” Joongwha is the meaning of the geographical center as well as the significant word of the national identity and the cultural superiority. “Joongwha ideology” seems to strengthen in China lately. It made this present situation that the government's intention which is increased nationalism played an important role rather than the consciousness of the nation. Nationalism, which is thought of filling up the lack of socialism, stresses the patriotic sentiment and unity to appeal to their national self-respect. It connotes the “Joongwha Ideology” in Zhang Yimou's films which are Hero, House of Flying Daggers, and Curse of the Golden Flower. Three films show Zhang Yimou's characteristic image aesthetics which is mostly traditional and chinese image with the setting of the past. Zhang Yimou's cinematic image, which is made to display rather chinese beauty and the majestic appearance than well-made narrative, was feasible with the national support. Indeed, these image consume with “Joongwha Ideology” ultimately. It tells that “Joongwha Ideology” represented in Zhang Yimou's films is connected with china government in good relationship.
