국문 초록

이 논문은 한국영화의 자장 안에서 끊임없이 표류하는 반공영화를 대상으로하여 한국전쟁 이미지가 어떠한 방식으로 표상되고 있는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 한국 사회에 반공이데올로기라는 지배이데올로기가 정착되는데 결정적인 역할을 담당한 한국전쟁이라는 대사건에 집중하여 한국전쟁 발발 시점부터반공영화가 제도적으로 정착되기 이전인 영화법 제정 이전까지의 영화들을 분석대상으로 삼는다. 이 시기의 반공영화들은 소비주체인 관객과 상호작용하면서 장르로서 정착해 나가는 과정을 거쳐 가고 있었지만 이는 한국 영화문화 생태계 내의 자생적인 창발로 이루어진 것이 아니었으며, 당대의 관객들에 대한 요구를 수용하여 생성, 소비되거나 재생산된 오락물도 아니었다. 이러한 반공영화의 태생적인 불균질성은 반공을 국시로 내세웠던 당대의 이데올로기를 프레임으로 덧씌우는 과정에서 부정교합을 일으키며 영화 속 이미지 표상의 불균질성으로 관측된다. 하지만 이를 통해 반공영화는 우리에게 반공영화란 과연 무엇인지를 역설적으로 되묻는다는 점에서 여전히 현재진행형인 장르로 존재 가능한 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine how the image of Korean War is represented in anti-communist films continuously drifting in the field of the Korean film. It analyzes films produced from the outbreak of Korean War to before the Korean Film Law was enforced, in other words, before anti-communist films were institutionally established, by focusing on the Korean War, a bit accident critically triggering the establishment of the anti-communist ideology, a dominant ideology in the Korean society. Although the anti-communist films produced in that time underwent the process in which they were gradually established as a genre by interacting with customers, the consuming subjects of them, they did not autogenetically emerged in the Korean film culture ecosystem nor were films for amusement, consumed or reproduced by accepting contemporary audiences’ needs. Such original heterogeneity of anti-communist films is identified as that of images represented by the films, because contradiction occurs as they were framed by the anti-communist ideology, the contemporary national policy. Such anti-communist films can exist as the present progressive genre, in that they paradoxically ask again us what the anti-communist film is.
