교과전공 운영에 대한 예비 중등특수교사들의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 예비 중등특수교사 270명을 대상으로 표시과목 취득을 위한 교과전공의 대한 인식 및 기대효과, 그리고 개선요구 등을 탐색하여 더 유능한 특수교사를 양성할 수 있는 체제를 갖추는 데 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비 중등특수교사들은 개인적 관심에 따라 다양한 교과전공을 선택하고 있었다. 하지만 특수학교 교육과정과 직접적인 관련이 없는 교과들이 다수 선택되었으며, 수학, 과학 등은 거의 선택되지 않았다. 둘째, 예비 중등특수교사들의 교과전공 수업에 대한 기대효과는 전반적으로 낮았으며, 특히 교육과정과 관련된 기대효과는 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 예비 중등특수교사들은 현 교과전공 체제에 변화가 있어야 한다고 생각하고 있었으며 그 대안으로는 교과전공을 특수학교 교육과정에 있는 전체 교과들로 대체하는 방안을 가장 선호하였다. 이러한 결과는 교과전공이 일반교육을 기반으로 하고 있어 특수교육 교육과정과 괴리가 심하다는 데 근본적인 원인이 있는 것으로 보인다. 따라서 특수교육에서의 교과교육의 정체성을 정립하고 이를 바탕으로 특수교육에 적절한 교과전공, 특수교사 양성체제를 수립할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was to explore the recognition, expectation, and needs for the improvement on subject major to receive the indication subject in the part of pre-service secondary special education teachers(n = 270), and then to provide foundational data for building the more effective special education teacher training system. The results were as follows: First, pre-service secondary special education teachers chose diverse subject majors based on their personal preference. However, they picked subject majors that had not directly associated with special education curriculum, whereas they rarely chose math and science. Second, pre-service secondary special education teachers’ expectation on the outcomes of subject major class was generally low, especially expectation in the curriculum was lower. Third, pre-service secondary special education teachers required the changes in the current system of subject major. As an alternative, it was preferred for them to supplant the current system with the system offering lessons on the whole subjects in the special education curriculum. It was more likely that it was because the regular education base subject majors were not suitable for special education curriculum. Hence, it will be necessary to build the identity of subject education in the special education first, and based on that, proper subject major system, and then special education teacher training system would be designed.
