Loneliness, suicidal ideation, and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic

국문 초록

본 연구는 COVID-19 팬데믹 속에서 고독이 자살생각에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 회복탄력성의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2021년 2월 COVID-19 확진자 수가 많이 발생한 대구 , 경북 , 경기 , 서울 등의 지역에 거주하는 만 18세 이상 성인 1,000명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 데이터 분석을 위해 SPSS PROCESS macro를 사용하였으며, 분석 결과 고독은 자살생각에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 회복탄력성은 고독과 자살생각 간의 관계에서 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, COVID-19 팬데믹 시대에 일반 성인의 자살예방을 위해서 필요한 정책적·실천적 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to examine how loneliness affected suicidal ideation and the mediating effect of resilience on this relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was collected by surveying 1,000 participants over the age of 18 who lived in regions where there were many confirmed COVID-19 cases as of February 2021, namely Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Gyeonggi, and Seoul. The SPSS PROCESS macro was used to analyze the data. The analysis results showed that loneliness had a statistically significant effect on suicidal ideation and that resilience mediated this relationship. Based on these results, this paper presents policy and other practical measures that should be taken to prevent adult suicide during the COVID-19 pandemic.
