초등학교 코딩교육 기반 환경교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용

국문 초록

이 연구는 초등학교 5학년 학생들을 대상으로 코딩교육 기반 환경교육 프로그램을 개발하고 적용하여, 환경 핵심역량에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 초등학교 2015 개정교육과정과 교과서와 지도서를 분석한 후, 환경교육 내용 요소를 추출하여 환경문제에 관련된 주제를 선정하고, 이에 따른 환경 관련 수업목표를 도출하였다. 또한 SCC 교수⋅학습모형을 활용하여 16차시의 프로그램 개발하였으며, 개발된 프로그램은 전문가 자문을 실시하여 프로그램을 수정⋅보완하였다. 프로그램은 서울시 송파구 소재 초등학교 5학년 방과후 자율동아리 30명을 대상으로 단일집단 사전⋅사후검사 설계를 통하여 8주에 걸쳐 방과후 활동시간에 적용하였다. 이 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2015 개정교육과정을 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 환경교육의 내용을 추출한 후 SCC 교수⋅학습 모형을 활용한 교수⋅학습 모형을 구안하여 코딩교육 기반 환경교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 둘째, 사전⋅사후검사 결과, 코딩교육 기반 환경교육 프로그램은 초등학생의 환경 핵심역량에 통계적으로 유의미한 효과를 보였다. 또한 정성적 분석 결과, 프로그램을 적용을 통해 환경문제에 보다 많은 관심과 코딩을 통하여 작동 원리를 이해하게 되어 환경문제와 관련된 기술에도 관심이 생겼다는 반응을 보였다. 결론적으로 이 연구에서 개발된 초등학교 코딩교육 기반 환경교육 프로그램은 최근 인류 사회의 문제 중 하나로 대두되고 있는 환경문제 해결을 위해 환경교육과 코딩교육 간의 융합적으로 시도한 하나의 사례로서, 우리 사회가 지속가능한 사회로 나갈 수 있도록 향후 환경교육과 관련한 융합연구의 기틀을 마련하였다는 측면에서 교육적 의미를 갖는 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to develop an environmental education program based on coding education and investigate the influence on the key competences of 5th graders in elementary school in Seoul. This study was conducted in the planning, implementation and arrangement stages. To this end, content elements of environmental education were extracted from textbooks and instruction manuals of the 2015 Revised Curriculum. In addition, the topics related to environmental problems were selected and the environment-related education goals were derived. The developed program was applied to after-school activities for 8 weeks through a single group design of pre- and post-test for thirty 5th grade students of an elementary school in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The results of this study were as follows. First, based on the analysis of the 2015 Revised Curriculum, the contents of environmental education were extracted, and a teaching and learning model was devised using SCC teaching and learning model to develop an environmental education program based on coding education. Second, as a result of pre- and post-test, the environmental education program based on coding education showed a statistically significant effect on key environmental competences of elementary school students. In addition, the qualitative analysis also showed that the application of the program led to greater interest in environmental issues, and understanding of the operating principle through coding resulted in a response that interest in technologies related to environmental issues was also generated. In conclusion, this study is an example of a convergence attempt between environmental education and coding education to solve environmental problems that have emerged as one of the problems of human society in recent years. It seems to have educational significance in that it laid the foundation for convergence research related to environmental education so that our society can move into a sustainable society.
