영문 초록

The purpose of the present study is to suggest how creativity education could be fostered in primary English considering primary English teachers’ responses. To accomplish the objective, the researcher first planned a teacher training session for primary English teachers. During the session, alphabet picture books written in English were introduced as effective teaching materials of creativity education in primary English. Prior to their participation in the training session, a number of teachers did not recognize alphabet picture books as good resources in creativity education, but rather as easy materials in teaching letters, phonics or words to beginning learners or young children. After the session, the teachers’ perceptions of alphabet picture books had changed positively and they came to think that creativity education using alphabet picture books in primary English could be possible. Based on the participating teachers’ responses, the researcher selected 10 alphabet picture books and suggested guidelines of creativity education using these books. Finally, some implications of the study were provided.
