실업계 고교에서 좋은 학교 사례 연구에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 실업계 고교에서 좋은 학교의 의미가 무엇이며, 실제 학교 현장에서는 좋은 학교를 만들기 위해 어떠한 노력을 하고 있는가를 기존의 ‘효과적인 학교’와 ‘좋은 학교’의미에서 새롭게 조명하였다. 현재 교육 내실화와 특성화 교육을 위해 개편 중인 많은 실업계 고교 중 일부는 좋은 학교의 사례로 타의 본보기가 되는 사례이며, 이러한 좋은 학교 사례는 실업계 고교의 새로운 정체성을 확보하고 교육적 역할을 수행하는 데 기여할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study listed 6 schools nationwide as successful examples of school having undergone reform. These include 2 specialized high schools, 2 integrated high schools, 2 high schools integrated with vocational colleges. Case analyses have been conducted through a review of school related data, visited and direct observation and interviews with people concerned. The successful vocational high schools teach us the following lessons: 1) the efforts of people concerned have a distinguishable effect on the course of reform. Within these schools, all teachers, including the principal focused their efforts on the development of their institution. More specifically, reforms require: the principal to display strong leadership founded in the professional and autonomous operation of the school, and both teachers and students to build mutual trust and expectations. Substantial reforms also require teacher’s strong passion toward teaching students and improving their professional skills. 2) To attract and select students, these schools use various methods, including PR and charity based activities, and participation in research contests. 3) Regarding the operation of the school curriculum and classes, these are organized and operated in response to the students’ demands regarding their future direction after graduation. Furthermore, the curriculum and classes are restructured in conjunction with student’s skill level and areas of study. Education based on practical activities, including job training, project research and internships, is intended to improve students interest in classes. 4) With regards to counseling students about their life at the school and future plans, these schools use a human based form of education and various counseling activities to help students’ adjust to their school. Efficient counseling plans regarding students’ futures have also been established and were annually implemented. 5) The observation was made that cooperation on the part of the school with student’s parents and the community at large helps to achieve improvements in school education.
