국문 초록

뮤지컬의 공연시간은 주로 평일 저녁 이후나 주말 오후 시간대로 늦은 시간에 공연이 이뤄졌다. 그러나 어린이뮤지컬은 저녁 시간 이전에 공연이 가능하기 때문에 성인뮤지컬과 공연 시간대가 겹치지 않는다. 즉 하나의 뮤지컬 콘텐츠를 성인뮤지컬과 어린이뮤지컬을 병행해서 공연을 할 수 있다면 제작사 입장에서는 대상 관객의 폭을 넓히고 수입을 극대화 할 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 성인뮤지컬에서 어린이 뮤지컬로의 장르전환이 성공적으로 이뤄진다면 관객의 대상은 어린이를 포함한 가족 관객으로 확장할 수 있으며, 상업적인 면에서도 새로운 수입원이 될 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 성인뮤지컬이 지닌 흥행성을 유지하면서 어린이뮤지컬로의 전환 시 새로운 전환 전략이 필요하다는 관점에서 연구를 했으며 작품은 <뮤지컬 넌센스>를 선정하였다. <뮤지컬 넌센스>는 뮤지컬과 어린이뮤지컬을 같은 장소에서 같은 배우가 두 장르 모두 공연을 하고 있으며 흥행을 하고 있는 작품이다. <뮤지컬 넌센스>의 성인버전과 어린이 버전을 분석하여 그 성공 요인을 도출하며, 앞으로 뮤지컬이 어린이뮤지컬로의 전환 시 고려해야 할 사항에 대해 연구해 보았다. 본 논문을 통해 어린이 뮤지컬 전환 전략에 대한 연구의 첫 걸음을 딛고자 한다.

영문 초록

Adult musicals are usually performed at late hours, such as late weekday evenings or weekend afternoons. However, children s musicals are performed earlier than those times. Thus, the performance time does not overlap with adult musicals . Therefore, production companies can attract more customers and maximize profits by developing a single musical content into two, one for adults, and another for children. In that regard, successful shift of an adult musical into a children s musical can expand the audience target into a whole family including children and provide a new source of income. This study was inspired by the fact that a new strategy is necessary to change an adult musical into a children s musical while maintaining its box-office success. The study was done on . It has two versions, one for adults and another for children, performed by the same actors and actresses at the same place. It is a popular musical, generating high ticket sales. This study has analyzed the adult version and children s version of and established the factors that led to its success. Based on the results, this study has explored what to consider when shifting an adult musical into a children s musical. As for limitation of this study, the findings are not broad enough to be generalized, as only one musical was analyzed as to its strategy. Thus, more diverse analysis of multiple musicals is necessary. This study is significant in that it has explored the strategies to shift an adult musical into a children s musical for the first time.
