영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic materials of Unification Education in clothing & textiles area of practical Arts of elementary school as a preparation for the unification of Korea. First, this study introduces the basic direction for Unification Education and the current situation. Then it suggests the problems of elementary Unification Education in the Practical Arts Education with the analysis of elementary school teachers guidebooks, curriculum commentaries, periodical journal, and the thesis. It also collects and analyses the information on North Koreans clothing life and text books related with clothing education in North Korean elementary schools. The results of this study are as followings. First, it confirms that the practical arts is a very useful subject in Unification Education in the point of that it can be approached by the life cultural approach method for the elementary Unification Education. However, there is a lack of recognition on the issue and it needs studies which are more practical. Second, the supply of clothing in North Korea was insufficient. Although the North Korean Government has set restrictions, new fashions of the west and South Korea are influencing North Korean youth and women. The majority still wear public wears and working wears such as jumper jackets and sweaters. Children s wear are especially similar to those of South Korean children, in the aspect that there were several kinds of clothing depending on the T.P.O. They use washing machines, closets, sewing machines in North Korea, but the lack of the supply is extreme. Sewing machines are popular in North Korea because of their usefulness and economical benefits to sustain a clothing life. Third, There are 8 units of clothing education including a unit on how to make a pouch in North Korean text books, Arts and Craft for grade 3 and grade 4. The layout of each page contains just illustrations. The level of sewing is more demanding than Practical Arts text book of South Korea. Fourth, the aim to obtain the basic knowledge of North Korean clothing life and inqure the North Korean clothing life based on the knowledge to develop a shared racial consciousness was established. Instructions & learning methods were suggested for the Unification Education in clothing and textiles area of Practical Arts Education.
