국문 초록

최근 한국의 자살경향은 경제적 상황으로 인한 빈곤계층의 자살이 급증하고 있다. 특징적으로는 사회의 중추세력인 30∼50대의 자살율이 높고, 청소년 학생층의 자살이 자주 나타난다는 것이다. 또한 우울증에 기인한 자살이 증가하고 더욱이 부모가 자녀를 살해하고 자살하는 상황이 자주 발생하고 있다. 자살은 예비단계와 실행착수단계, 자살기도 그리고 자살의 단계로 순차적으로 진행되며 각 시기별로 별도의 자살예방대책이 마련되어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 최근 한국사회의 자살 경향을 분석하고 이에 대한 실질적 예방책을 세우는데 그 목적이 있다. Ⅱ장에서는 자살의 개념과 이론적 논의를 다루며 Ⅲ장에서는 1998년부터 2002년까지의 자살실태를 분석하고, 한편으로는 2003년도 주요 자살사례를 분석하여 문제점을 제기한다. Ⅳ장에서는 실질적인 자살 예방대책을 제시하고자 한다. 현재의 자살 추세를 통제하기 위해서는 첫째, 사회보장제도가 확립되어져야 한다. 경제적 극빈층의 자살은 국가치원에서 해결해야 할 문제이다. 둘째, 가족문화에 관한 전통적 가치를 개선해야 한다. 부모의 과도한 자녀에의 집착은 오히려 자녀살해 후 자실이라는 극단적 폐해로 나타나고 있다. 셋째, 자살을 유인하는 환경을 제거 혹은 변화시켜야 한다. 자살을 촉발시키는 공간적 환경이나 자살수단에 대한 용이한 접근은 충동적 자살을 유발시킨다. 때문에 환경설계를 통한 자살 예방과 자살 풍조를 일으키는 모든 요인은 제거 혹은 개선되어져야 하는 것이다. 자살을 실질적으로 감소시키기 위해서는 국가나 사회차원의 노력뿐만 아니라, 사회 각 구성원도 자살행위에 대한 철저한 거부감을 갖는 인식전환이 중요하다.

영문 초록

Suicide among the poor for the reasons of economical circumstances is in the rapid increase recently in Korea. A suicide rate of those in the age bracket between 30's and 50's, who are considered as the society's main pillar, crowd between 30's and 50's, in particular, is high, and suicide among teenage students is occurring frequently. In addition, suicide caused by depression is in the rise, and especially those cases involving parents committing suicide after murdering their children are occurring often. Suicide proceeds in the order of preliminary stage, action starting stage, suicide attempt stage, and actual suicide, and separate suicide preventive measure by stage should be established. This study aims to analyze a suicide tendency in recent Korean society, and establish essential preventive measures accordingly. The chapter II deals with an idea of suicide and theoretical arguments, and the chapter III deals with an analysis on suicide circumstances between 1998 and 2002, as well as on major suicide cases occurred in 2003 and raising of the concerned issues. The chapter IV deals with raising of essential suicide preventive measures. In order to put today's trend of suicide to sleep, firstly, a social secunty system and a suicide prevention program should be established. Suicide committed by people in poverty should be resolved at a national level. Secondly, traditional value toward family culture should be reformed. Parents' excessive attachment toward their children created extremely harmful effects of parents killing themselves after killing their children. Thirdly, suicide luring environment should be eliminated or altered. Any environment influenced spaces vulnerable to suicide and an easy access to suicide means can trigger impulsive suicide. Thus, suicide prevention through environmental design and all elements provoking a tendency to commit suicide should be eliminated or reformed. In order to reduce suicide realistically, the efforts by the government and society at a national level as well as changing perception of every member of society toward the complete rejection of the suicide act are important factors.
